I used to think monero was better than bitcoin for privacy, but now I know monero is not necessary.

We can achieve privacy using chaumian e-cash instead of a blockchain. What's more, these e-cash solutions are interoperable with the lightning network.

The steel-man argument against this is that chaumian mints require some trust.

This is true, but Bitcoin is a peer to peer electronic cash system that requires no trust. We can trutnthst there will never be more than 21 million #bitcoin. Every other blockchain is an attempted breach of that trust, an attempt at debasing bitcoin the same way governments have debased gold by adding other metal to it.

That's my two sats.

I would rather trust a few thousand sats with an e cash provider than try to debase the p2p electronic cash system that bitcoin is.

This is the argument against pharmaceuticals, and I think it is a strong one: If defeating your body's natural systems via interfering with a single biochemical pathway makes you healthier, then your ancestors would have easily evolved such a thing. Every biochemical pathway has regulators, and natural selection can adjust them. Exogenous substances adjusting these pathways is directly in contradiction to what your body is trying to do (for example, anti-inflammatories defeat your body's natural inflammation; anti-pyretics defeat your body's natural fever; pain relievers defeating our body's natural way of avoiding further tissue damage). And clearly your body is trying to be healthy.

There are exceptions, however; pharmaceutical interventions that don't fall into that category. But businesses want to sell more things to make more money, and so they will expand into drug targets that wise people would best avoid.

You should marry someone that you’re proud of and don’t want to intentionally, or even unintentionally, disrespect. You might say it’s just a silly joke, but I would bet some sats they get divorced within 3 years. This isn’t “girl bossing” or “you go girl”.

The saddest part is that many women in 2024 would say I’m insecure for disapproving this behavior. Assuming that’s the husband in the hat…he doesn’t look thrilled.

yes, you read that right.

her entire career as a prosecutor was built on reading and probing people.

if you can't win by laying out the facts, you win on creating perception.

you create a story.

when Kamala does a funny accent, laughs too much, or repeats a slogan - she's creating a narrative about herself.

these are not emergent accidents in her political journey, like Trump speaking his mind and hitting a controversial note, or Biden tripping down a flight of stairs.

she is in control of the story being told about her.

this is why she has almost completely stopped saying "the unburdened by what has been" line in the last 60 days.

the mockery has already been made, the well has been dried - it has reached the point of diminishing returns in terms of right wing press coverage.

she, of course, gains from a completely manufactured "uninterested" left-wing press (do we really think *nobody* on the left wants to interview her, and isn't frustrated by the lack of access?)

but her coverage from a right wing press standpoint is almost solely focused on either:

a) completely impossible to legislate campaign promises like unrealized gain taxes, or $25000 housing credits

or

b) her new gaffe/accent/repeated line-of-the-week

coverage of either of these things has zero effect on independent voters.

this coverage/commentary does not make an even SLIGHTLY informed voter lean decisively against her

they are also such milquetoast subjects at this point that they won't galvanize republicans to turn out en masse as well

you want to know what democrats/left wing establishment were most worried about, but have almost completely memory-holed?

the 1st trump assassination attempt

zero coverage on ANY network on the shooter's motives, and hardly a mention from Trump himself in about 4 weeks until the 2nd failed attempt

trump not leaning into his 1st assassination attempt is quite possibly the biggest self-own in american politics I have ever seen

meanwhile, kamala and a highly coordinated group of democratic operatives are running one of the most impressive operations of political persuasion I have ever seen

it's what was completely lacking from Clinton's campaign back in 2016, but what was learned from Biden's successful "basement" strategy in 2020.

I sometimes think about the totality of how many people throughout human history have gotten totally fucked by their governments and had to flee their homes and communities with nothing more than what they had on them.

What has been the economic cost of this, what is the cost of always living in a state of fear that it will happen again?

While it can happen, at least with bitcoin you can keep some of your property beyond the violent expropriations of any government. The value of such a thing cannot be understood by dollars or purchasing power, but only through the cost of life and what real economy security means to someone who has seen just the smallest amount of the horrors of the genocides of the 20th century.

I had a boss once who had received feedback and coaching because he would be a nightmare to work with when his football team was losing.

He identified so much with that team that he could hardly seperate himself from it on an emotional level.

Though the consequences are more relevant, the emotional rollercoaster happens the same way for people who are heavily invested in politics.

This might sound harsh, but it’s honestly what I believe. If you don’t want to vote for Trump, I get it. He’s a douche, and he presided over lockdowns, green lighted the mRNA and didn’t do shit against the deep state despite his many promises to the contrary.

But if you are voting for Kamala Harris, at best you simply have no idea how the world works, and/or are not paying attention. I cannot take you seriously in the worldview domain. You are disqualified IMO if you are voting for her. (And it’s not really her you are voting for since she’s obviously an NPC, but google, the military, pharmaceutical and censorship industrial complexes, the corporate media, the WEF, etc.)

I’m not saying my attitude is the “correct” one to have, and I wish no ill on those who I deem to have a worthless and unconsidered worldview, but it’s just truthfully what I believe. If you advocate for her, I think you are totally uninformed and willfully so at this point. I think you are epistemically derelict.

And I am not the only one. But the consequences of your advocacy for something I find so obviously and transparently abhorrent are merely that. A diminished view, a loss of respect for your judgment by me. I would never advocate for silencing you, censoring you or punishing you in any way for your political views.

Because while this is my true, heartfelt and deeply held belief, there is of course a chance I could be wrong.
