Actually a good idea
Features don’t matter for networks.
What matters is the network.
We can build all the features we want, but if we don’t get the comms right, nobody will ever know about all these “cool hypothetical features”
We should be catering to and courting Tiktokers.
They DO care about censorship resistance. They think #Tiktok is their best option because Meta's and X's algorithms cater to ONLY established profiles.
They have a billion global users and growing. 100 million in the U.S..
Most Tiktokers believe in community and helping each other and saving themselves from capitalism. They share our ethos and are curious and open-minded.
The content creators push out SO much content to make money. And barely do. They constantly complain on the lack of clarity on how much they're paid and how often TikTok changes the rules. They will love #zaps.
There is a very common comment Tiktokers put on a post they deeply relate to or enjoy:
"I BUILT THIS FYP BRICK BY BRICK"
(FYP = For You Page = Their profile on the TikTok algorithm)
Meaning they've liked/blocked certain things to ensure their FYP is curated for them. They're halfway there.
These are your people #Nostr. Stop being snobs.
💜 you
( nostr:npub1pmhevxtlt3478pvmdqt7dftnv6zc2mzpdc569yjm6ks4k2jhezcs53uksr & I are thinking about adding Nostr to the nostr:npub1627md0lshr7hsa9z6ud8xpln2xvrszjcqv0uu5d8cjvz4f2vscnsat3aec title after our summer break... stay tuned) #grownostr nostr:note1e8gzpmeum8tqzqg6sjkuxge7v764h9x49n7e000as0x40lpekazqfhwk8f
Love this
Same energy.
Easy judgement to make.
“Oh we have devs”
Who cares. That doesn’t magically lead to success. Never has, never will.
Great idea.
More initiatives like this are needed and just as important (or more) than another tech improvement
Competing against everyone is the same as the million failed startups claiming “everyone is their user”.
Peak midwit approach
Correct. But clearly nobody really cares (BlueSky growing 20x the pace of nostr).
Furthermore, nobody really knows that (highlighting the comms issue further).
I get all that.
But “competing against everyone” is a losing strategy.
Who / what are we competing against first? And this needs to be a relatively precise target.
And perhaps we need to change the paradigm a bit. Maybe it’s not Nostr that’s competing, but the businesses themselves?
But if that’s the case, it maybe means we should be talking less about Nostr and more about the respective products?
It’s not so clear cut. Hence why I said it’s “struggling” with comms. We don’t have a tech problem. We have a go to market problem.
Someone once said:
“Wear your statement”

Gym time. 💪
Honestly. No real person cares, not will they for another 20yrs.
If that’s what we’re waiting on, Nostr is dead
The bitcoin angle (other than aligned initial group of users) is a dead end.
Bluesky for sure (unfortunately)
No. You just didn’t read what I said.
The point of my post is that outside of the tiny bubble on here, nobody knows where to place nostr in their minds.
That is a communication problem, NOT a tech problem.
And blue sky, with inferior tech, is doing a 10x better job with comms, by catering to the weirdo’s (that shitshow is growing at 20x the pace)
Furthermore, you clearly don’t understand network effects.
Unlike bitcoin, Nostr doesn’t have direct economic incentives built in, so I the network is more fragile and susceptible to becoming a tiny echo chamber.
Nothing in my post suggested “we need it all now” - but that there needs to be more thinking done on comms. Right now 90% or more of the focus is on tech - and IMO, we’ve got good enough tech to begin putting resources and effort toward comms & marketing.
Does that help clarify?
Own your audience is one of the best angles.
And yes - perhaps these narratives need to be driven by products and businesses built on Nostr?
I’d hope at the very least though, that orgs like OpenSats, who have some sort of coordination power, can assist. That’s somewhat of an edge against the centralised competition if used right.
But comms is a very important next step. I think the tech is mature enough to move onto that as a focus now.
Nah. I think Zaps are largely useless.
Nobody cares and they’re not very different to likes.
Yes sir. Follow nostr:npub15xd2mmjnh3caykh77djsv73e0zkrp42jp5mwerx8f4m6su40wdvss7t3l3 and you’ll see something resembling groups, but with a focus on physical locations (cities & communities).
Closest thing I can think of to FB groups.
None of these are real.
A new and very successful strategy for realistic video is combining the FLUX.1 image model with a good video model (I've been using Runway Gen-3). And then to top that off you can add Live Portrait into the mix and act out the facial expressions or dialogue to graft onto the video... the tools just keep flying in and getting better every single time.

Still think it’s a solution in search of a problem
