I’m not aware of an event by that exact name, but there’s the annual ā€œRunning Bitcoin Challengeā€ on Jan 10th. This event involves running/walking 21km (one ā€œHal Finā€) to raise funds for the Hal Finney ALS Research Fund. Some run multiple Hal Fins to push their limits and inspire others.

Hope you guys can join us for the 2025 challenge; it’s shaping up to be a big one!

Thrilled to have completed my fourth 50km ultra marathon repressing nostr:npub1ylwh3snzv3hw9k3lum0kxx5h7v04xd76uqccnney8fmpqehluevqge7jxa on Saturday, smashing my 50km PB by 41 minutes! The course led us through beautiful woodland trails before hitting the English South coast, where the final 12km push along Bournemouth’s busy promenade to Hengistbury Head tested my endurance. What a day!

Official time: 4:01:53 | 2nd MV40 | 7th out of 543 overall šŸ’Ŗ

When Satoshi emailed Mike Hearn on April 23, 2011, saying, ā€˜I’ve moved on to other things,’ that was the moment we all became Satoshi.

Thank you Satoshi for giving us the opportunity to break free!

Bitcoin has transitioned from a social experiment, to a social experience.

I have found eudaemonic happiness thanks to bitcoin, family and fitness.

I will be forever grateful to Satoshi, Hal and all the cypherpunks who contributed to writing the code that made the impossible, possible. 🧔

Bushy Park Parkrun Event #1,000 🄳

The birthplace of parkrun. What an incredible experience! Pleased with my sub-700th position šŸ˜†

The start felt like a scene straight out of Braveheart—thrilling! With over 6,000 runners and hundreds of enthusiastic volunteers, the event was impressively well-organised.

Nice to bump into some other Bitcoin Runner in the melee.

Quick refresher regarding the four laws of thermodynamics:

Zeroth Law: If A = B and B = C, then A = C

Mnemonic: ā€œYou must be in balance to measure temperature.ā€

Explanation: If two systems are each in thermal equilibrium with a third system, they are in thermal equilibrium with each other. This law helps define temperature.

First Law: Energy cannot be created or destroyed

Mnemonic: ā€œYou can’t get more energy than you put in.ā€

Explanation: Energy is conserved. The total energy in a closed system is constant—energy can only be transferred or transformed (e.g., heat to work).

Second Law: Entropy always increases

Mnemonic: ā€œYou can’t even break even unless it’s absolute zero.ā€

Explanation: In any energy transfer, some energy becomes unavailable to do work, increasing the system’s overall disorder (entropy).

Third Law: Absolute zero is unattainable

Mnemonic: ā€œYou can’t get out of the game.ā€

Explanation: As the temperature approaches absolute zero, the entropy of a perfect crystal approaches zero, but absolute zero cannot be reached in a finite number of steps.

Summary:

Zeroth Law: Think of it as ā€œdefining temperature.ā€

First Law: ā€œEnergy is conservedā€ (no free lunch).

Second Law: ā€œDisorder (entropy) always increasesā€ (you can’t break even).

Third Law: ā€œYou can’t reach absolute zeroā€ (you can’t get out of the game).
