Nothing is interesting if you’re not interested. Life is full of miracles if you know how to see them.

I’ve only been here since the beginning of December. Where’s pips? Sounds delicious!

I’m a little too shy. I get self conscious in a bikini top.

¡Pura vida Jimi! ¡Te levantaste temprano esta mañana!

Thanks for pointing out the difference between cruisers and live aboard people. I’m trying to find a marina that will let me stay on my boat while I get familiar with her before I head out into the open ocean. It’s still getting down into the 30’s(F) at night so I need shore power to plug a little heater in.

For any suggestions on how to approach the marina to let me do this? I’m a cruiser and not a live aboard. I’ve told them that with a little better reception.

I swear to god, if I see another ticktock of someone breaking down about not being able to afford rent, recorded on a $1500 iPhone, I’m going to just quit!

Cornychat! That was it. Is it live? As in, I have no coding experience. But o do understand how algos work. Is there a user friendly site I could go to start a cromychat?

I tried to do a spaces tonight and those twatter idiots don’t respect anyone and all they care about is hearing the sound of their own voices.

There is a Bitcoin Coffee hour in Arlingtonton on Saturday. I am planning on going to that.

Are you into sailing? My boat is going back on the water near week! If you’re interested, I am going to have a little boat warming party.

nostr:npub1yx6pjypd4r7qh2gysjhvjd9l2km6hnm4amdnjyjw3467fy05rf0qfp7kza hey, quick question. What was the thing you built on Nostr called? I want to check it out.

We’re all Satoshi! We’re all fiatjaf! We’re all spooks! It’s a good thing we have denaturalized, trustless protocols!

I don’t trust you and you certainly ahouldnt trust me! nostr:note1wa9evyr78nzsp5yuac8n9vsprhh84t45epr0m8yz4psx2wgv26tspdjuva

I don’t know the answers but I’d be very interested to hear what you find out. I’m in the middle of a different project at the moment but, in a week or two, I’m going to do a deep dive and figure out fedi. Have you reached out to obi, directly? Fedi is still niche enough he’ll probably respond fairly quickly.

Given the current system of ‘incident before signage’, when you see a warning label, some one has already done it. This means, the show is about to begin!

I have a rule that I will never pay more than $20 for a pair of sunglasses. And if they want to get the full $20, they better be really cool. 😎

Exploration is how we find things we didn’t know we liked. Sure, there’s a letdown, sometimes, when we reach our destination and it turns out to be now what we expected. But that’s an essential part of the human experience. Without the contrast, we might never know what we really want in life. It teaches us to temper our expectations. Without that, pleasant surprise cannot exist.

I’ll gladly take the lows if it means the highs will be all that much better. A constant flow of artificial dopamine hits, like video games and social media create, dull the senses and we become immune to its affects.

I’ve never pit VR goggles on and I don’t think I ever will. I find reality to be quite exciting, as it is. That’s precisely why I live on a sailboat. The lows can be extremely low! Which, in turn, makes the highs feel that much higher. Like the plastic bag in “American Beauty.” Nothing is interesting if you’re not interested.

I love being able to see the everyday miracles that surround us. One morning I woke up before the sun and put the red lights on. (To preserve night vision). Now, red lights completely distort any perception of color; everything is just shades of red. But when I started the cooker to make hit water for coffee, the flame, which emits its own light, the blue was so incredibly strikingly blue. In a sea of red, the blue was a perfect miracle!

The whirlwind of emotions and critical thinking it conjured almost made me cry. That, you will never find in an artificial reality! On that I guarantee!

I just came across this post on my cruisers forum perfectly demonstrates what I was saying. Adventure is the best!

So it’s just a better version of custodial LN wallets? I have a lot on my plate, at the moment, but once I get settled into my boat, I’ll have a lot do free time. I’ll look into this more. I’m especially curious about fedimints as I believe it to be a great solution to self custody while actually living on a boat. The “boating accident” is funny until it becomes an actual possibility. Boats can and do sink, all the time.

So this is nonsense

https://www.economist.com/finance-and-economics/2024/02/01/bitcoin-etfs-are-off-to-a-bad-start-will-things-improve

Accounting for Grayscale out flows the net inflows into ETFs are about 29,000 bitcoins. The ETFs went live on Jan 11th that is 34 days including weekends and ETFs only trade on bankers hours.

Right now mining produces about 900 new bitcoins a day. 900 x 34 = 30,600 bitcoins. Meaning the ETFs gobbled up 94.7% of all newly mined coins.

The ETFs just launched they are in about 0% of 401Ks etc so far. They are only being bought by people with self managed IRAs and brokerage accounts right now.

With that said at this flow rate alone, by the time the halving comes and we drop to 450 a day which is a couple months out. This flow rate would eat 189% of all new bitcoins.

Given most of this buying is from money that could not otherwise buy Bitcoin, that is almost a double halving with zero growth from current flow.

This assumes that companies like Blackrock et al. spent billions to get the ETFs approved but now they are not going to market them hard, push them to money mangers, get them into 401Ks, etc. We all know that they are in business to make money, so they are going to push this hard after putting in so much work.

Long time preference is something the average idiot can't even consider right now let alone have. The math in this is so blatantly obvious that I can only assume that the author of this article is either a paid shill, an idiot or both.

I think they key that people are missing here is, ETF’s are valued in USD. The nominal quantity of BTC held by the ETF is not important. What really matters to the ETF is the inflow of fiat. The value of Bitcoin can simply increase to absorb the fiat inflows without adding more BTC to the ETF’s holdings.

Sure, they need to aquire a substantial amount of BTC, now, but in the future, this buying pressure will subside.

And let’s not forget, these guys are traders. Traders where born to get riggity rekt. They’ve become accustomed to having a safety net of fiat money printing and bailouts. Bitcoin means no bailouts. They will try to use their HFT practices and since, if you take out the 12 biggest green candles of the year, bitcoin steadily trends downward. They’re going to learn a hard lesson.

For us, we need to only worry about not tripping over the schottenfreude. Enjoy the show.
