You can explain things like a movie or a business plan or a new product in a short elevator pitch. “It’s the story of Romeo & Juliet on the Titanic.” “It’s a taxi service but with gig workers using their own cars.” “It’s a new iPod, internet browser & phone in one device.”

But it’s difficult to do this with #bitcoin  . There’s no simple way to convey money, cryptography, the Byzantine generals problem, mining etc. it takes many elevator rides and too often the person you’re talking to gets off at the first available floor.

So what would be your elevator pitch for bitcoin?

Spread hard money awareness IRL…

Design and print a box of #bitcoin   ‘awareness’ (business) cards and leave them at gas stations, on park benches, on restaurant tables, in tip jars etc. Wherever you go help spread awareness of #BTC . Let people know there’s an alternative to fiat.

I just had firewood delivered here on the coast. The guy running the business confided in me; long hours, fuel’s gone up, insurance is up, profits are squeezed, struggling with inflation. People are trapped in a fiat system & increasingly don’t know where to turn.

I told him how #bitcoin  is a long-term store of value, how it’s just better money. But he couldn’t hear it. Like a drowning person struggling for the next breath he couldn’t grasp the life vest.

Bitcoin is hard to understand but easy to dismiss.

Yes, technically speaking #bitcoin  is a cryptocurrency. In fact BTC was the original ‘crypto.’

But today be aware there is a significant difference between BTC and the thousands of ‘crypto’ tokens that have arisen in Bitcoin’s wake.

Bitcoin is the most decentralized money. There is no company, no account to sign up for, no single point of failure. On the other hand most ‘cryptos’ are funded by VCs, have a company promoting them, run on centralized servers.

Bitcoin is the digital perfection of money.

If only there were a small town somewhere next to the ocean. Somewhere with spectacular scenery and beautiful beaches yet close to thousands of acres of forest. Somewhere where everyone knows their neighbors and #bitcoin  is the local currency. I’d move there in a heartbeat.
