At this meetup, we started a tradition called #BlockTalks - anyone can speak for 10 mins on a topic of their choosing. I spoke about my on-the-ground experience in #Madeira and how I hope to bring the good efforts of nostr:npub1etgqcj9gc6yaxttuwu9eqgs3ynt2dzaudvwnrssrn2zdt2useaasfj8n6e on-boarding merchants to Canada.
We then proceeded to do a balance contest, winner took 12k sats, and where I clearly demonstrated I needed more practice.
We concluded the meetup by doing the first official bitcoin retail purchase. This was by far my biggest wallet transaction yet. All in Bitcoin. I had been considering purchasing for several months now, and seeing my purchasing power increase by almost 100%, now was the time to take the plunge. The transaction went through flawlessly!

My favorite part of aging now is seeing things come back around. We had a barefooted dude on our fire break team 30 years ago - used to say "the universe will provide". Great guy, feet were a fucking mess, but he was into it for a while there.
