My broody hen only hatched 3/10 compared to 18/24 in the incubator. That's the first time I've had the incubator beat a broody hen. #chickens #grownostr

18 so far. There might be one more out of the incubator and I haven't looked under the broody hen but there's cheeping under her so at least one there.
Milking East Friesian Dairy Sheep
Getting things in order at our milking stanchion. The sheep are still uncomfortable with it so we brought the lamb over to help calm the sheep down.
Took the time to trim the hooves too. They were in a pretty wet paddock over the winter so the hooves needed some attention.

Getting the hang of milking. There is definitely a learning curve and I'm sure things would move much more quickly if we had a mentor near by to show us thier technique.
All in all, another step forward in our sovereign dairy production.

Our goat milk supplier is going to have sheep's milk this summer. I'm looking forward to trying it.
