Building the library of Alexandria

I'm on Amethyst, and I mute the npubs I really don't want to see, so it's not terrible.

What's remarkable to me is that it's possible to get to the top of the global feed. Maybe it's the client, or maybe Nostr is still small enough that's it doesn't feel completely endless

Do you think this is true of smart phones as a whole? All the developments the past few years have been incremental at best, it seems.

You talking online, or someone you're physically talking to?

This has been a problem since Odysseus

That second option forces the man to step up and take responsibility, which men can be reluctant to do by default.

This is the content I'm here for 🍿

Please say a prayer for the repose of the soul of my grandfather, we just celebrated his requiem Mass today.

Alby has been on and off today.

> [Charles] Taylor suggests that those who convert to unbelief "because of science" are less convinced by data and more moved by the form of the story that science tells and the self-image that comes with it (rationality = maturity). Moreover, the faith that they left was often worth leaving. If Taylor is right, it seems to suggest that the Christian response to such converts to unbelief is not to have an argument about the data or "evidences" but rather to offer an alternative story that offers a more robust, complex understanding of the Christian faith. The goal of such witness would not be the minimal establishment of some vague theism but invitation to historic, sacramental Christianity.

When you go to do q "hello world" for a new app but you type "hell world" instead.

I think it's a side effect of trying to live a Christian life. It's a worldview that encompasses every level of being, so it's bigger than any ideology.

That's what I mean when I say people think he's the president of Catholicism. The Pope can't just sign an executive order and change a bunch of stuff up across the whole Church, despite what some people seem to think. He's the Bishop of Rome and thus the symbol of unity for the universal Church. He is a shepherd and teacher for his fellow bishops and for the Catholic faithful around the world. He is not the sole decision-maker for the worldwide Catholic Church.

Does anyone know of any directories of businesses that accept Bitcoin?

To me he seems to be kind of all over the place. Some of what he says and does is quite good, some is rather concerning or frustrating.

I think a lot of people seem to think of him as the president of Catholicism, when that's really not how the Papacy works at all. My default attitude is to mostly stay away from following Vatican politics, to pray for the Pope and my local bishop, and to focus on being a faithful Catholic and an active member of my parish and diocesan community.
