Who would buy this new bond after just getting rugged on the last one?

I like nostr. It kind of reminds me of a late 90's pop hits CD, or a first visit to an industrial high-ceiling art studio, where everything is unfamiliar except my mum strolling over completely in her element in paint-covered overalls. Or summer holiday day-long bike dirt jump making sessions with neighbours, or waterfights thereafter, or a mid-90's red nissan bluebird that is like an incinerator when you got in. How can something so new be so nostalgic?

They don't behave as if they're forced to reform when faced with competition. Rather, they convince, compel or coerce folks to remain bound to their services (even intellectually it seems)

As far as where all the money comes from to do those AND prevent competitors, well, it's taxes but also, they alone have a monopoly on printing money, enforced with threats of imprisonment & lots of munitions. so... 🤷‍♂️

Better to ignore all of it. Don't eat government sponsored food or act based on government funded facts.

Legally, because it violates the contract law that the US (and others) depend on to run their international bond markets. Full stop.

Functionally, because the second they tried such an obviously “banana republic” move, there would be a complete collapse in the price of the entire medium to long end of the yield curve. As in “Game Over”. Requiring the FED to print 100s of trillions to mop up the blood bath of the collapsed tsy market and likely all bond markets dependent on the tsy market for reference like mortgages and corporates.

Much more likely, as external buyers for longer US govt paper continues to dry up while yields drift higher, the Fed will be forced to re-initiate some form of QE (infinity) to pick up the slack and keep rates under control.

I (and others like Larry Lepard/Preston Pysh) expect this to be coming very very soon. Possibly even before the e end of this calendar year.

I agree we're not starting from a societal blank slate, but I DO believe we can prototype ideas like this in blank-slate digital simulacra. And those experiments will be interesting.

Guess they are extra important. I guess by taxes. The last is no doubt an issue. I suppose we have some private education to keep them halfway quality

Let's just say you create a new country with no govt where everyone has to have insurance for crimes to enter. Say 1 btc. So then if I commit any crime some or all my btc is taken. Then if I lose all the btc I am killed. Maybe that can work, if the escrow is somehow funded and doesnt become corrupt and somehow you fund tbe executioner and the overseer of the executioner and the democratic process that ensures the overseer doesn't become corrupt... see where it goes?

Obviously, the "answers" are going to bake-in some optimism about the approach, but particularly Spontaneous Order does a very good job of starting from a completely blank slate and building up from there.
