Ecash is better than a regular custodian in that it's an open protocol we can build some assurances around.
Mints can do epochs at regular intervals for proof of reserves, use multisig (fedimints for sure) and leverage the web of trust, though this one could also apply to a regular custodian

I was thinking of using your contact list and your contacts contact list and mute lists to calculate a WOT score, then you can even increase the depth and also use contacts and mute lists of the contacts of your contacts. Rn there aren't too many clients in nostr that do this, one of these is coracle ( nostr:npub1jlrs53pkdfjnts29kveljul2sm0actt6n8dxrrzqcersttvcuv3qdjynqn ) , and it shows you the wot score in a little circle with a number inside, also I know that nostr:npub1wf4pufsucer5va8g9p0rj5dnhvfeh6d8w0g6eayaep5dhps6rsgs43dgh9 is researching and working in this for zap.store, and also blossom from nostr:npub1ye5ptcxfyyxl5vjvdjar2ua3f0hynkjzpx552mu5snj3qmx5pzjscpknpr have a strong WOT component.
The most basic web-of-trust feature we should see everywhere is what legacy social media already does: When you visit a new profile, it tells you who of your contacts follow that profile
That's my first goal with my wot service, which also retrieves results based on trust rank such that the UI can pick the 5-10 profiles with strongest signal
