I just love watching unelected officials in my country make “laws.”
Hey nostr:npub1wtuh24gpuxjyvnmjwlvxzg8k0elhasagfmmgz0x8vp4ltcy8ples54e7js is YT.thesamecat.io down right now?
Yes. Will hopefully be back up tonight. Sorry.
In my C# applications I’ve started setting button.enabled = false at the beginning of the click event. 🤣
This is the first place I kinda hope RISC-V takes off. Closed firmware blobs are one of the few reasons routers aren’t almost universally able to run custom firmware. There are a lot of 4 and 8 core cpus in these routers just crying for a decent Linux or BSD install that could be customized.
User installs application on 10 year old computer with 20 icons in task tray. Gets frustrated that app is slow. Clicks button 30 times thinking it’ll make application load faster. Takes entire computer down.
Files trouble ticket: “App is slow and crashes my computer. Fix your software.”
No further details.
Performance is amazing. Nostur is really good, and every time I blink a new release is out, but nothing is as good as Damus as being fairly reliable to load what I’m scrolling, and handling the rapid fire app switches I do all day long.
Call it “time to scroll.” Nobody else is as fast as Damus from tap-to-open to scrolling feed. (On iOS, I’m not current on Android)
Damus.
And not really. I’ve churned through a lot of them, and always end up opening Damus. If I had to pick something I’d say I’m ready for mute words in Damus, but good things come with time.
Kinda came down to the same for me, but Linus has some point. I’ve seen some really clean C++, but the majority of it… it gives me nightmares.
My applications are hard real time embedded applications, which pretty much eliminates GC’d languages from the running for work. It’s an alien world compared to 99% of what goes on around here so I’m sure I sound like an idiot.
C# is still one of my favorite languages for non-real time stuff (not sorry) but I am very attracted to Go for the goroutines. Seems like a really nice approach to parallelism. The static linking is cool too, unless you’re working on something proprietary (GPL hell).
Cross-platform boost+qt hell!
My soul is broken by this conversation!
I’m so sick of missing out on a proper dependency manager Fish!! 😭 WHY CANT VCPKG NOT BE SHIT!!!
Tbf he’s not wrong about C++ 🤣
I’ll go back to reading “The Joy of C” that I found in a box now.
My career just got run over by nostr:npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku 😭
