I heard another opinion, that web browser updates are mostly for the benefit of the company—in this case, Google (to collect user info/etc).

The google support page notes that antivirus (or indeed a virus) could be a suspect. Do any other apps have issues (particular apps that you downloaded from the web rather than the App Store)? I suspect it’s a permissions issue but confirming the OS and if other apps are impacted will help.

I have a question regarding Chrome web browser on my laptop. A few month ago, I updated it by uninstalling and reinstalling since it couldn’t automatically update.
Now it’s asking to update again, but it fails to update. What’s the issue? It takes some effort for me to uninstall and reinstall again, as I’m not as tech savvy as many of you here.
Is there a way to fix this issue? Thank you.

I’ve found posts with beautifully described photos with so much detail I could see the picture in my mind. I should have read the article before sharing but I didn’t. Ignore that part. Some screen readers may cut it off but none that I’ve used. 😁🫶
