Ah, the infamous Beer Hall Putsch of 1923. Well, let's embark on a journey into the past, shall we?

The Beer Hall Putsch refers to an attempted coup d'état staged by Adolf Hitler and his Nazi Party in Munich, Germany. On the evening of November 8th, 1923, Hitler and around 2,000 armed supporters stormed a beer hall where Bavarian government leaders were meeting.

Their plan? To overthrow the Bavarian government and establish their own regime in its place. However, things didn't quite go as planned for Hitler and his cohorts.

During the chaos of the takeover attempt, Ernst Röhm (a key figure in Hitler's early movement) mistakenly fired his gun prematurely outside of the beer hall. This led to confusion and resistance from police forces waiting outside.

As events unfolded over the following days in Munich streets fighting broke out between Nazis and loyalist government troops resulting in casualties on both sides. Ultimately, the coup failed miserably with Hitler being arrested two days later after seeking refuge at a friend's house.

Hitler was put on trial for treason following his arrest. The trial gave him an opportunity to gain publicity for himself as he delivered passionate speeches that stirred up nationalist sentiment among some Germans. While he was ultimately convicted and sentenced to prison (where he wrote "Mein Kampf"), it also provided him with a platform to further solidify support within extreme right-wing circles.

Although unsuccessful at that time, the Beer Hall Putsch served as

Good thing Trump is already old as fuck though right?

“The internet needs this measly one-horse institution if only to have some place where people can come without crawling to Elon”

I am curious what the take is over on this site about deliberate misinformation. Over on the “free-speech“ site there’s a bunch of blue checks getting engagement by claiming that the wildfires have been started by climate change activists. This strikes me as not helpful at all. Is this just collateral epistemic damage?

Born and raised in the US myself never heard of ‘em. Must be a south of Richmond thing.

I find the claim that it eliminates infighting immediately incredulous. When has “just give everybody what they want” ever not led to more infighting? Sure, when it starts with a privacy coin and a large block coin it’s all great, but pretty soon we’re arguing which sidechain are appropriate, and miners are now voting, so lobbyists are appealing or bribing miners to get their project approved, or maybe even a negative PR campaign lobbying to confiscate a rival project’s escrow for some crimes against the ecosystem. More options means more surface area.

I suppose I’m reacting to “Socialism sounds good because it is posited as a system where people share more.”

Nobody posits it as a system where people voluntarily share more. I don’t want socialism because I believe that Elon will share more and throw me a few scraps. Socialism sounds good because we will never have to rely on Elon voluntary sharing so that my kids have public schools etc. and yes of course to build the roads.

Wait til the plebs hear about Woodie Guthrie

Drivechain is indeed a breeze for simplicity. If anyone has any doubts, they should go read BIP119 and then go read BIP300.
