My mind read "australian govt secretly giving US wankers a free pass"

I'd say email and domains is fairly possible also.

Just need them to implement lightning though.

Just for arguments sake, lets say bitcoin is a dumb idea and the doubters were right all along. The gold bugs, the central bankers, they all had a good point calling out bitcoin for being a stupid idea.

Even then. Even without bitcoin. You have a global community of bitcoiners who are spending all their time THINKING about how to lift up and service the people on this planet that need it the most.

Just take Citadel Dispatch for example. Countless people on npub1qny3tkh0acurzla8x3zy4nhrjz5zd8l9sy9jys09umwng00manysew95gx podcast talk about the product or service their working on in terms of how that service will benefit people they dont know across the globe.

Any builder in this space seems to be completely occupied with coming up with ideas on how to make the world a slightly better place.

Even without bitcoin - bitcoiners alone show hope in what seems like a hopeless clown world that is falling apart more and more by the day.

#bitcoin is #hope and it makes me hopeful

I zapped this only because a friend of mine just sent the same video to but from #Xitter 30 minutes ago.

✅ Sharing my personal experience using #Nostr #Primal, #Snort and #Iris clients (Desktop version).

Dude, I realized that I'm using three #Nostr clients to publish my notes and interact with people: nostr:npub12vkcxr0luzwp8e673v29eqjhrr7p9vqq8asav85swaepclllj09sylpugg, nostr:npub1sn0rtcjcf543gj4wsg7fa59s700d5ztys5ctj0g69g2x6802npjqhjjtws and Iris. I'm crazy? No! Each of these Nostr clients has its positives and negatives, so, almost intuitively and without realizing it, I end up choosing to use one or the other throughout the day.

Snort and Iris are practically identical in 95% of features and interface, except for some features (5%) and brand. #Primal is different from the other two, however, it doesn't offer as many features available in #Snort / #Iris, which are very useful to me.

Starting with the settings area, let's compare Primal with Snort/Iris. Primal has a shall we say, “poor” area in terms of configuration options, while Snort/Iris offers a variety of possibilities.

Primal has the filter feature on the right side, which allows you to select the trend of content for 1/4/12/24 hours, an excellent feature absent in Snort/Iris (which displays a summary of content that was trending in the last 24 hours, and it doesn't update correctly).

Additionally, in Primal, when you are reading a note on your specific page, on the right side, you can see a list of all the people who have interacted with that post. Excellent resource!

In the notifications area, Snort displays a bar graph that shows all the interactions you have received over 11 days or weekly. Iris/Primal do not have this graphic feature. In Primal, notifications are more visually attractive, as you can see the note and the interaction it received (likes, comments, shares, and zaps).

On the user profile page, Snort/Iris has a more intuitive interface and some features that Primal does not have, such as the bio that displays the information in a more organized way (website and wallet link, both with icons). In Primal, they display notes, reactions, followers, zaps, relays, etc., with numeric data instead of just text like in Snort/Iris. Additionally, the side menu in Snort/Iris is more attractive and has mouseover effects.

On a 21.5" inch monitor, Primal is a laterally more compact website, while Snort/Iris is wider, although it is visually pleasing, it seems that the elements are too spaced out on the screen, while Primal is more compact.

Creating notes in Primal is not as pleasant as in Snort/Iris, as the popup appears at the top of the screen. The preview loads the content automatically and updates in real time as you write the note, making the process a bit slow. In Snort/Iris, when you create a note, a popup appears in the center of the screen and there is a selector to activate the publication preview, which is excellent. Personally, I prefer to create my notes in Snort/Iris.

Another detail when creating notes is in relation to images. Snort/Iris allows you to configure and select the option for hosting note images on Nostrcheck.me, this is an exceptional feature, as you now have an image gallery on Nostrcheck.me.

In the feed, at the top, in the upper area, Snort/Primal have a selector that allows you to select and filter what you want to see, for example: for you, following, trending notes, conversations, followed by friends, follower suggestions, Trending, global, and topical hashtags. Primal has the feature, but it is limited.

Regarding page loading speed and notes content, Primal has been faster than Snort/Iris, although in these last two clients, there are several disconnections throughout the day and timeout errors. Feed/cache is a problem with both services, often the feed appears out of date, even when you reload the page.

In Snort/Iris, your profile description, as well as your nickname, avatar and profile banner, typically reverts to a previous version/cache, if you have already updated this information a few times. This is quite annoying!

The integration with lightning wallets in Snort/Primal works without barriers, while Primal, requests your personal data. This is a negative point for me.

In short, both clients are great. In my opinion, it would be great if developers could perform benchmarking and combine all the excellent features of both clients into a single application. Obviously there will not be unanimity, nor does it need to be. But whoever pays attention to these details will be able to come out ahead, placing an application on the market that can satisfy and serve the majority of users.

I have tried to talk to some developers from these clients, but I believe that, due to their work, they do not have the time available to listen and accept this and other feedback. That's what I prefer to believe!

Who knows, maybe this note will be seen by some of them. I hope that sharing these experiences can add some value to some of these applications.

Thank you for reading this far, and sorry for any grammar or concordance errors. https://nostrcheck.me/media/df14b35799a917e9f824de01f8f510fcccf1648b8d45bda726521feb689b5da0/80e1da36544d9116dcb8591aeed2a3b580927fda2548adea286550f2ccc7c7a7.webp

Impressive feedback note

is the rockpro a better alternative or is it not possible on an sbc?

Ridiculous to have feelings about the halving. I mean sure, take the opportunity to celebrate that the protocol works exactly as expected. By all means, take any chance you get in life for celebration.

But being literally *sad* about the halving is really dumb...

this guy was re-reading the bitcoin standard

switch "multiculturalism" out with any other word u can come up with. Great way to begin learning the difference between correlation and causation. Srsly dumbest thing I've read this year and I've read some dumb shit so far, ngl

A couple months ago I had a discussion with the head of digital assets at a multi-trillion AUM financial institution about the topic of whether bitcoin is a risk-on asset or a risk-off asset.

This wasn’t about what it is conceptually (i.e. globally portable finite bearer assets are conceptually good to own in a crisis, neither of us disagreed on this), but rather how its price would *actually* behave in a crisis currently and for the next several years.

Their view was that it could be marketed as a risk-off asset, meaning something that is likely to go up in a crisis, and that if marketed this way it would allow them to put bitcoin ETFs into more portfolios and weight it bigger.

My view was that while of course people should own bitcoin, it’s not yet a risk-off asset in practice in terms of price action, and that marketing it that way is likely to lead to disappointment for those that expect it to perform like that.

We then got into a discussion about how bitcoin went up in the March 2023 banking crisis. They suggested that this is evidence of emerging risk-off behavior, to their point.

I disagreed, and clarified that in my analysis the closest correlation to bitcoin price action is measures of global liquidity. Some types of crises are pro-liquidity and some are anti-liquidity, and will likely affect bitcoin’s price accordingly.

The March 2023 banking crisis was a pro-liquidity event because it was quickly apparent that the Fed/Treasury would bail banks out fast and slow their rate hikes. Therefore, bitcoin went up not because it was a risk-off asset per se, but rather because it behaved as a pro-liquidity asset as it frequently has.

The Iran/Israel event this weekend was an anti-liquidity crisis because it contributed to a flight-to-safety move toward the dollar (i.e. the unit of account for which the most debt is denominated in, and debt represents inflexible demand for that unit). A sharp move up in the dollar is bad for global liquidity because it hardens the debts of various foreign entities (sovereigns and corporations) relative to their cash flows (which are to varying degrees partially or completely denominated in fiat units other than the dollar). And so bitcoin behaved as it normally does: it went down amid falling global liquidity.

At this stage (with its relatively small size, high volatility, and poor understanding of most people for the asset), I continue to view bitcoin price action as likely to be pretty correlated with global liquidity for a while. Understanding that dynamic is helpful when communicating expectations to people and when determining which types of crises are likely to push its price up or down. Yes, bitcoin is a risk-off asset conceptually, but in practice in terms of macro price action it is still a pro-liquidity asset primarily.

When bitcoin price action starts to behave differently from that trend, I’d be happy to report on that observation.

Awesome observation and impressive guidance you've done for this asset manager.

One year ago today a dear friend of mine got married. You know how at some weddings theres this thing with guests writing a private note to the couple that the couple then reads on their first anniversary?

Apparently I wrote them this note and they immediately texted me asking if it was my note 😂

I had totally forgotten it but oh my did it age well

#wedding #bitcoin #stayhumble #stacksats

holy shit, I had initially written "tweet" instead of "note" and got shit scared that it was cached cuz it would be so embarrassing.

nostr:npub16c0nh3dnadzqpm76uctf5hqhe2lny344zsmpm6feee9p5rdxaa9q586nvr I think i bumped into a input bug, I corrected a typo in the text "commity" => "committee" , then hit sent but the typo was still there. Are you caching the input field?

this is the most elaborate attempt at editing a nostr note I've seen yet, nice try NVK 😁

the UN Security Council had an emergency meeting after Iran's response attack on Israel.

Previously in response to Israel's attack on the Iranian embassy in Damascus, the US argued that we can't be sure who did it, blocked any condemnation, leaving no legal path for Iran to seek damages. Even though everybody knows who did it and Israel even explained why they did it. The UN did not condemn it.

In this meeting, most nations called for restraint by both Iran and Israel.

In response to Iran's very heavily signalled an announced military response that was far less than proportionate and more symbolic, double and triple checked against the Geneva conventions that it was legal, to provide minimal deterrance against future attacks, that strictly targeted military sites, the US condemns it in the strongest terms, claiming Iran's intent was to cause significant damage and death, pointing to the 300 mutitions used (even though most analysis shows Iran was trying to overwhelm the Iron Dome with all those cheap drones, not to cause mass damage with them). It goes on to warn Iran not to attack the US.

Russia point out it's regret that an emergency meeting wasn't called after Israel's strike on the consulate, that the UN continues to fail to respond to regular attacks by Israel against Syria and Lebanon, and that if the UN keeps ignoring these situations then appeals to constraint become futile. Points out the West declined to recognize international law about the Consulate bombinb, and if a Western nation was hit it would be very different.

BTW: International law is being violated all over the place by the West. Syria has appealed to the UN I think hundreds of times about it's country being invaded by the US and Israel and it being attacked by them, and is always ignored.

The fact that the West ever dares to bring up international law is embarrassing to me.

lets fucking go, mike.
