Thank you for accurately saying that the atlantic ocean wasn’t literally on fire. ;D

I’m glad they’re not running anybody and also glad they didn’t choose RFK jr
With two unappealing canidates there would be a lot of people who’d make a protest vote. That said, most of those folks will are anti-Trump & anti-Biden will simply not vote for president or vote at all.

Thats kind crazy. What the hell is a beaver going to do with a log that big?!

I like your stuff and think it’s interesting the way you’re being pulled in to being more of a creator as you do your journalism. The line keeps getting more blury.

Coinbase is adding Lightning support. Exchanges might not be a very safe way to store crypto long term, but it’s a very good on and off ramp. Being able to go directly from coinbase to a lightning wallet seems great.

I think a bunch of the organizers and nostr community folks were already going to be in Riga for the Baltic Honeybadger conference. So it made sense to double up.

Everybody building in the Nostr ecosystem, and working in tech in general should follow nostr:npub1r0rs5q2gk0e3dk3nlc7gnu378ec6cnlenqp8a3cjhyzu6f8k5sgs4sq9ac’s recommendation and read this piece on identifying what to build. It is so common to build the wrong thing and waste tons of time and money.

OH damn that’s crazy. If i weren’t working on Nostr I’d be swimming in the AI pool.

Crazy new openAI synthetic voices are pretty cool. They’re not launching it because of safety concerns. But the voice sounds like LeVar Burton in Reading Rainbow and his newer amazing podcast LeVar Burton Reads: https://www.levarburtonpodcast.com/

Check it out

My take is the English is fantastic, but the Spanish and Portuguese sound ever so lightly off.

I was once turned down because “they couldn’t afford me” but we never got to actually discussing salary expectations. Another time i got turned down because they were worried if I was hired in to the satellite office then I’d some how convert it in to being their main engineering office. That last one was funny, becuase i wasn’t even applying for a management role, just a senior engineering role. They just assumed, perhaps correctly, that I wouldn’t just stay doing that and I’d likely start managing things. At the time I was burned out from working remotely and just wanted an office to go in to with coworkers in person.

Eventually I gave up on working for other people and went back to making my own thing. Which is way harder, but i get to more directly shape the nature of my work.

Cafe working.

I have no idea what kind of plant it is!

Hey Jo,

I don’t know you or the background to this. But I will say that there is probably some reason why you were banned from contributing. When this happens, in general, it’s a better idea to reach out to the people involved directly and have a conversation about what’s happening. If you keep trying to get around the bans without addressing them, it doesn’t look great, and probably makes the issue harder to resolve.

Sometimes the reason folks are asking you to not participate might not make sense to you. But it sounds like folks asked you not to solicit funds and you kept doing it. Ultimately, there will be times when their reasons make no sense to you, but sometimes you’ve just got to accept it. Effectivily nostr operates as a commons, that doesn’t mean it’s a free for all, rather that it’s not owned by a private company or the state, instead held in common. There are going to be rules and norms that are expected of people in this space, and as hard as it may be to accept, people are going to be excluded. It’s the primary way of coordinating and enforcing behavioral norms.

So I say, reach out to the organizers, with humility, listening to understand how things got to this point, once you understand their reasoning, ask for forgiveness and what can be done to repair the relationship. Knowing that people are under no obligation to forgive. It’s ok to not be involved directly in some projects.
