I dunno man, he’s not doing himself any favors with this one. This is potentially causing post-election chaos and brings up memories of Jan 6 which turned off a lot of Republicans. He should just focus on winning and not sowing doubt for if he loses:

“UOCAVA voting systems have several measures in place to prevent fraud while ensuring eligible voters can participate. Here are some key methods used:

1. Voter verification:

- Voters must complete a Federal Post Card Application (FPCA) to register and request a ballot.

- The FPCA requires personal information like full name, date of birth, and Social Security number.

- Election officials verify this information against existing records.

2. Signature matching:

- Voters must sign their ballot envelope or a separate declaration.

- Officials compare this signature to the one on file from voter registration.

3. Unique identifiers:

- Each absentee ballot has a unique code or barcode.

- This prevents duplicate voting and allows for tracking.

4. Secure transmission:

- Many states use secure online portals for ballot requests and delivery.

- When ballots are mailed, they're often sent via expedited, trackable methods.

5. Witness requirements:

- Some states require a witness signature on the ballot envelope.

- This helps verify the voter's identity and that they voted without undue influence.

6. Affidavit of eligibility:

- Voters often must sign an affidavit declaring their eligibility to vote.

- False statements on this affidavit are subject to perjury laws.

7. Ballot tracking:

- Many states provide online systems where voters can track their ballot's status.

- This transparency helps prevent and detect potential fraud.

8. Post-election audits:

- States conduct various types of audits after elections.

- These can help detect any irregularities in absentee voting.

9. Federal oversight:

- The Federal Voting Assistance Program (FVAP) and the Department of Justice monitor UOCAVA voting.

- They can investigate and prosecute cases of fraud.

10. State-specific measures:

- Some states have additional security measures, like requiring copies of identification documents.

It's worth noting that studies have consistently shown that voter fraud, including in absentee voting, is extremely rare in U.S. elections. The challenge is often balancing security measures with ensuring eligible voters can easily cast their ballots from abroad.”

Good morning #coffeechain

Confession: I used to be into “crypto”. I actually made money off speculating on it. Lucky me.

Then somehow I finally saw the depth and importance of what Satoshi originally created. I realized the beauty of the “simplicity” and saw the myriad ways the infinite, pointless “crypto” projects either lost the plot, corrupted themselves or diluted their objectives, resources and never mind their stupid tokens too.

Truth is it’s not simple at all in this space. There’s enough depth in Bitcoin, Lightning, Nostr & ecash to spend a lifetime learning and not even get close to truly mastering it all. And I love that.

Anyway, cheers to all you badasses making things on here. You inspire me to be better, to learn, to write, to build and to share. I’m off to find a better coffee supplier for our flagship shop and hopefully make a deal.

I’ll keep in mind for the future that you post your thoughts not for discussion but so people can marvel at your wisdom. Cheers dude

not trying to be a dick, but beyond a minimum level of "intelligence" as measured by the test (around 100) it's pretty clear it doesn't really tell you much about a person

TY. Distributed solar is still a good idea to reduce base load and fluctuations on the grid. FYI something she doesn’t really give enough credence to in the book

I don't think this book mentions #bitcoin once, but if you know the basics about mining then this will help you understand very quickly how Bitcoin can make our grid a hell of a lot more resilient, green and COMPETITIVE.

This man is anti-Bitcoin and I disagree with him on many things, but this piece is definitely worthwhile: https://www.yesigiveafig.com/p/a-choice-to-believe

Some gems:

"While I disagree with much of the Republican “platform” and candidly fear the potential for narcissists in office, the alternative is much, much worse as Kennedy’s speech makes clear."

"Food production is uniquely suited to predatory acquisition strategies. Calamities befall small local/regional producers on a regular basis. This was the genesis of crop insurance when first introduced in 1899 through farmer cooperatives. Like many well intentioned ideas, it was ultimately federalized by the government. In 1994, crop insurance became mandatory for those participating in other government programs like price supports. Predictably, the mandatory premiums disadvantaged smaller farmers/food producers and drove further consolidation in the industry. "

"In America today, market after-market demonstrates the existence of monopoly powers. The cozy relationship with regulators is a key component and it is here that the Democratic party has simply become absurd with dismissive counter-attacks on “corporate greed” and FTC enforcement."

"...healthcare is increasingly about predatory (and opaque) pricing, and payday lenders (for all their very real failings) provide a mechanism to escape the healthcare collections racket. We are an increasingly unequal society and a growing fraction are increasingly resource constrained which lowers our aggregate productivity and productivity growth."

(his Substack is high quality and thoughtful all around, worth the subscription IMO if you can handle reading opinions you don't always like or agree with... which I can't recommend more to this community)

“I have a foreboding of an America in my children's or grandchildren's time -- when the United States is a service and information economy; when nearly all the manufacturing industries have slipped away to other countries; when awesome technological powers are in the hands of a very few, and no one representing the public interest can even grasp the issues; when the people have lost the ability to set their own agendas or knowledgeably question those in authority; when, clutching our crystals and nervously consulting our horoscopes, our critical faculties in decline, unable to distinguish between what feels good and what's true, we slide, almost without noticing, back into superstition and darkness...

The dumbing down of American is most evident in the slow decay of substantive content in the enormously influential media, the 30 second sound bites (now down to 10 seconds or less), lowest common denominator programming, credulous presentations on pseudoscience and superstition, but especially a kind of celebration of ignorance”

If you’re going to be non-partisan, then fucking be non-partisan. This is a clear conflict of interest and how you end up like pre-Milei Argentina where government employees essentially vote for their own self interest. The stunning irony of the announcement of their endorsement being behind a Hatch Act warning is clown world stuff.
