The traditional telephone system is fiat

Deprecating NIP-04 actually doesn't seem like an insane idea

F-droid sucks. It doesn't even know you can't download more than 100% of a file.

Interesting idea. Would the messsges be sent peer to peer then or would they still be communicated via relay? Personally I worry though about things that cause lock in to specific clients (there's a kind of centralization risk for nostr there too).

The idea of using a different key for DMs does seem useful, maybe even one that can be rotated to give forward privacy. I was working on a NIP last week for a type of onion routing for DMs and there it was suggested to use something like RSA keys. Reason being that messages can be decrypted without knowing who encrypted them and this ends up improving privacy under that scheme: https://github.com/nostr-protocol/nips/pull/499

Search engine or browser?

What's the best setup for cellular / voice service that has good privacy / control without too much inconvenience?

To start, I finally got around to setting up VOIP service on my device now that I'm getting crazy spam on my main cell line. I essentially want to deprecate this number and have a new one only for the occasional but mandatory 2FA SMS verification. Any ideas on how to approach?

Hmm, it's the same relays only viewed from within Plebstr. It's possible my custom relay settings in Amethyst are causing it, I'll try playing around with these

nostr:npub1gcxzte5zlkncx26j68ez60fzkvtkm9e0vrwdcvsjakxf9mu9qewqlfnj5z Is #Amethyst moderating a user's own follows? There are pubkeys I'm following that never show up in my feed even though I know they're posting.

I do but actually won't be at my computer for a day or so, feel free to run with it

Maybe a time to live tag? Agree though that ephemeral events seem pretty limited in utility as they are now.

How about an ephemeral event that has an expiration timestamp? Can be stored but a relay should only ever include one in a response if we're before expiration (and we can delete them afterwards).
