Hillbilly engineer and plant nerd going feral

I plan on building a run on a hill for compost production. Carbon, weeds, food, ect... get piled at the top. Chickens add nitrogen and move it downhill. I think I will let them out for a couple hours because I want them mostly working the compost. Not sure if I will do a couple paddocks or just let them free range and fence the garden. Once the grasses and weeds grow big enough I'll get the scythe out for material.

Nice I have an order from there. Looking forward to getting fodder trees and trees for deer/livestock going. I plan to take cuttings and root many more in a couple years

Absolute banger here for all you #permaculture nerds. #permies #grownostr

Do you just cover the feed with water for a day or two? Yes, I have fed them some gross stuff and they know what not to eat. Someone told me to not give them onions, but they just don't eat those from the scrap bucket. I figure it adds to the compost anyways.

Nice. I have some sunchokes going. I planted a 5 gallon bucket of them 2 years ago. Some patches could be dug and spread. I'm not sure I could get rid of them if I wanted to. I'll have to plant a bunch of squash. Thanks.

I can regurally get $18 per 40# bag at the surplus store. This sale was at the feed store and was a surprise. I'll have to check, but I think they are normally $30ish. I should have bought the rest of the pallet and had them load it in my truck.

Can any #fountain users help? I have 65 GB of 'user data' in settings. Deleting all audio downloads in the app does nothing to this. Will using the clear storage option in android settings get rid of my account info?

They have 'trash' leaves for bedding that city folk were kind enough to bag up for me. They are mostly fed restaurant trash and sprouted sunflower seeds. They don't really touch the feeder of grains. Trash into compost and eggs! I will not eat ze bugs.

When sunflower seeds were on sale for $9 for a 40# bag, I bought 10 of them. Sprouted 3 quarts at a time every other day.

I got 7 #ButtNuggets today from 8 hens that started laying this winter. A new record. 🐔🐓

Do you have any #spring pictures for me?

An easy way to explain the failure of government.

For decades the government tried stop "drinking and driving". This included billions of tax payer funded stupid ads no one listened to. Along with destroying the lives of many who were NOT IMPAIRED at all at their time of arrest. Arrests were based on a subjective number not actual impairment. A number that varied state to state like how long a blade a knife you could carry there could be.

And after all this drinking and driving along with accidents caused by drunk drivers were never really reduced. Any reduction happened in the 80s when the laws were first put in place from that point on, it was pretty much the same for 30+ years.

Then in 2009 Uber was founded soon followed by Lyft. It was so effective that some police departments (mostly unions) said it was causing a lack of "revenue" because they wrote so few DWI tickets. Governments from federal to local fought it all the way. The average DWI will cost a person 10-20K minimum even if found not guilty. Most of this is grift that goes to the state one way or another.

California's government attempted to put all ride share drivers out of business with laws against independent contractors. This led drivers to form corporations and LLCs just to stay in business.

Las Vegas literally pulled some of the first Uber drivers over at gun point and were pushed to do so by the cab lobby and the mafia that runs the Vegas cab business. The city of Austin tried to outlaw Uber/Lyft as well, again spurred on by Austin PD and police unions.

These are just a few examples.

Despite all this ride services survived and thrived and have done more to reduce DWIs and accidents caused due to them than 4 decades of state endorsed violence and warfare on our own citizens. They did more than billions of dollars in PR campaigns paid for with stolen money.

The solution is Always in the free market. The impediment to these solutions is ALWAYS government. People were never unwilling to take a cap home from the bar. It was the cost, the difficulty of getting one in many places, how long you had to wait, etc.

Why was getting a cap a problem? Government and their regulation of the Taxi industry in a protectionist racket.

Breathe with your diaphragm, not your chest, and notice the change in mind state

Puffing your chest and breathing with it puts you in kind of 'fight or flight' mode. Yet they teach us this. Just watch a baby breathe, they haven't learned yet.

You will likely need to work up to it, it is muscle and needs work. I almost never notice anyone breathing this way.

Breathing with the diaphragm also aids in digestion
