I expect there's more restrictions with memberships like Sams and Costco.

Because the user is who you are ultimately making the product for.

If there's a handle on a door you pull it, you don't push it. This is a universal design expectation.

Go against intuitive design anywhere and people will notice. Being a door carpenter or software engineer has nothing to do with it.

Definitely an archaic system that requires mental notation of what works where.

Costco has always had very limited cards they accept.

I think it shows the west is out of new ideas, and desperate to recreate excitement so they revert back to what worked before, no different then Hollywood recycling movies.

At least in the 1970s the rockets got us to the moon.
