Peonies! That’s it. My grandmother had some in her yard when I was a kid and I couldn’t remember the name. Thank you 😊
And some fresh picked flowers from the garden. Happy Friday! #growstr #farmstr #homestead https://nostrcheck.me/media/public/nostrcheck.me_7808058739924507641692964866.webp
What kind of flowers are they? I’m a first year homesteader and I definitely want to pretty the place up next year.
Mornin' Nostr...
I have been sprouting seeds off and on for a few years. Thinking I might need one more bucket in this stack. Any thoughts on the size of the sprout? Should I be giving them one more day? I kind of think I should be.
These sunflower seeds go to the turkeys currently being moved through the victory garden. There are weeds and some volunteers that they can get but until they get through the whole thing and get onto straight pasture I like giving them something extra.
Thoughts?

I don’t see any green in your bucket. I think you’re right. One more day. It’s temperature dependent. During the summer my fodder sprouts take 4-5 days. During the winter, when I sprout in my basement, it takes 7 days.
I was up in the woods yesterday doing some fence work and noticed a Sumac tree with ripe berries. I went back and harvested some this morning. A handful went on the dehydrator for seasoning and the rest are going to be made into “Hillbilly Lemonade.”
If you’ve never had Sumac berries before, they taste like sour candy. They have a very tart flavor that will make your lips pucker.

Bought a solid 20 year old trailer with some minor issues ( busted lights, hard to turn jack, etc ) for the price you could almost get a new trailer for seven years ago. Glad we found it but damn its hard to stomach prices on some things.

I understand what you mean. I had to buy a new battery for the wife’s car yesterday. Same store, same part number… more than double the price.
Looking good! I had to garden on a patio like yours for a long time before I got my own piece of dirt. It’s good practice. You can learn a lot of skills container gardening that will carry over to gardening in the earth.
What part of the world are you in where tomatoes are just coming in?
#gardening
Yeah, it’s just the usual media blowing things out of proportion. I talked to my son in San Diego yesterday and a friend there today. They’ve had some rain, the usual spots are flooded and as usual, a couple idiots left their car in the wrong spot or tried to cross a flooded road. Stop reading headlines, go outside and observe the world with your own eyes. You will see a lot more truth.
If I can hear the music from your boat while I’m fishing on my boat or the shore, then you’re an ass hole.
What do you mean? Like for a place to live? You don’t unless you use an alias and that would involve a fake credit report, falsifying info for utilities, etc. Stay away from that.
Your best bet is to work with a small landlord that isn’t going to report anything. I know landlords that I rent to people who are known to them. No credit check, cheap rent. The tenants pay cash so unless they put in a change of address there really is no record of them living there.
Why do you ask? I’ve worked in real estate for a long time and this is an interesting question for me.
My first chick hatched on the homestead!
Long version: This is actually my first year living full time as a homesteader. I’ve had lots of experiences over my life and I’m well prepared for this lifestyle, but as is the case whenever one tries something new, there is a certain amount of “not knowing” or maybe a little feeling of uncertainty.
I’ve had lots of successes and failures this year. I try to learn from both. This baby chick represents a long term vision and a string of successes. From picking the right breed, brooding the chicks, tractoring, feeding, healthcare, you name it. This baby chick represents eight months of my plan, based on research and hard work to reach the goal of living a sustainable lifestyle and I feel like I’ve reached a milestone.
I just need to crow a bit 🐓
I’m putting the same stuff in my fall garden. Keep us updated. My Burpee green beans didn’t germinate well.
Flying out of Chattanooga today and I ordered a coffee at the concession. It’s been ten minutes and everyone is standing around LOCKED into their phones.
I’m more disappointed in the mindless robots people have turned into more than the poor service.
This is your daily reminder to go outside and touch the grass. #touchgrass #putthephonedown #gooutside #grownostr
WORKSHOP RADIO is going live in 45 mins Chatting about doing it all over again, with Content Creation. 7PM MT https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-3SX16WEzc

We’ve been visiting TN for ten years. Bought a house 4 years ago and moved here permanently this year. My wife recently learned about tomato pie and made one for dinner the other night. Yum! Tomatoes from the garden, homemade mozzarella, pie crust with lard from our pigs. I have to say, I don’t miss big city life or Starbucks at all. #homesteading is the way to go. Live your best life!
Do you think it could be from bad forestry management? Like in other places around the US?
It’s not how much you zap. The act of zapping a note is not just a “like” or “thumbs up” you are telling the recipient that you genuinely value what they said. Some notes I zap 1sat, some I zap more. The largest zap I have sent was 2100 sats, after a really good conversation. I recently received a zap for 5000 sats after giving someone advice that genuinely helped them.
There is no “social norm” when it comes to zaps, it is more about how much value the person you are zapping provided to you.
The conversation with my wife went something like this: “I love you, I married you, we have children together, we are building a life and family together. I guess I can trust you enough to teach you how to use a gun.” 😀
That’s not quite how it works. The phone comes with zero tracking. Above phone has a couple different app stores and you choose which apps you want to use. For example, if use google maps you are constantly sending your location to Google. If you use the offline map app on your above phone your location is never recorded. There are several map apps with various levels of privacy. Some you pay for some you don’t. The ones that track you are free. All apps have various levels of security. I’m kind of getting to the end of what I know.
Here’s the link to their videos that explain it better than I can:
https://learn.abovephone.com/course/above-the-rules/
Here’s a link to the podcast I heard about it on. The guy gives a good understanding for the everyday user.
They will spend an hour on the phone with you teaching you how to use your new phone and stay private. That by itself is worth the extra cost to me.
Try Above Phone https://abovephone.com/
It’s a google Pixel that has been “de-googled” All the tracking and reporting software that sends your personal information to google has been removed.
For example Apple transmits 5.8 GB of personal data from each IPhone daily. Google transmits about 20 times that.
If you are concerned about privacy at all the Above Phone is the way to go.
I don’t work for or get paid by Above Phone.
