I think about this every day. It hurts me to say this, but based on the math, it’s better to cash in an IRA pay the fine and self custody than leave money in an IRA. Unless it’s a Roth IRA and you can shelter future profits. I haven’t had the guts to do that yet. But it makes sense.

Made a porchetta tonight from the pig we posted a few days ago. Debone from the top of the loin, through the ribs and leave the bacon attached. Season with fresh thyme, rosemary and sage for the garden. Add generous amounts of salt and pepper along with an entire minced head of garlic. Roll it up. Tie it. Put it on the smoker for three hours. Rest for an hour. Crisp it at 500F in the oven for 20 minutes. Maybe the best dinner I’ve shared with my family. The food was delicious, but the work my boys put into harvesting this meal made it so much better.

I had a dwarf lime tree that I grew in a trash can. It lived for 15 years and produced fruit twice a year. I hand pollinated during the winter. I had fresh limes about 12 weeks a year. Not to many that they were wasted but always enough for margaritas, ceviche, taco or whatever.

Can confirm, rarely anything above 15 sats on the spin. Good rewards on gift cards. Good way to convert a paycheck into sats and live on a bitcoin standard. Once in a while someone hits big on the spin, but I wouldn’t count on it.

A school shooting has never happened at a school that has an active ROTC shooting team. I’m pretty sure that a school shooting has never happened at a school that still teaches archery as part of PE. At least, no one has ever shown me data to the contrary.

I’m the old man prepper in this situation, except I’ve adopted bitcoin. My older brothers, also preppers, asked what happens to bitcoin if either the internet or electric grid goes down. My answer was: “We prep for the most likely scenario, power outages, weather catastrophes, civil unrest. The greater the catastrophe, the less likely the scenario. A long electric or internet disruption would cripple our government. Which makes the situation highly unlikely. Even more unlikely is the entire world looses power or internet. Even then all we need is one bitcoin node to survive. Every bitcoin node contains the entire blockchain. Every transaction since the genesis block is recorded on an immutable ledger.

Bitcoin transactions have been relayed across the globe via ham radio.

In the event of a global tragedy… yes, we will trade: food, work, money, sex, booze and bullets, but humans are resilient. Society will rebuild quickly. We retain the knowledge to rebuild the electrical and internet grids quickly and bitcoin will be the first money to reemerge. Maybe you should put 1% or 2% of your savings into bitcoin just in case it catches on.”

I use a gun everyday for my job (custom exempt processing.) I’ve knocked: cows, pigs, goats, sheep and even a llama. Without the 2A I wouldn’t have a living. I follow #2a #gunstr #permies and #homesteading

I thought about your post quite a bit before answering. Relationships with in-laws can be delicate sometimes and if they have a good relationship, you definitely don’t want to offend the woman who raised your husband.

I’ve decided that the truth is the best answer.

You to in-laws: Have you read anything about toys from Amazon having lead based paint on them? I love your present and think it’s super cute, but I read this article and it scared me a little. Would you be offended if I put this toy away for a little while? Just until she’s old enough to stop putting everything in her mouth?

Make sure you have an article cued up on your phone to show them. Listen to their response, and practice feel, felt found.

GM Nostr. Here is a great example of how to build community. Yesterday upon returning home from running errands I spotted three domestic turkeys in my yard. I’m not raising turkeys right now. I posted on all the traditional social media sites looking for the person who lost them. It was nearing dark when a neighbor who raises turkeys offered to house them until the owner steps forward to claim them. We chased them down and secured them safely in an enclosure to keep them safe from predators.

I have to admit that my first instinct was “turkey dinner” but someone has a lot of time and energy invested in these turkeys. I feel like it would have been steeling if I didn’t look for the rightful owners first.

This one was kind of small, but I wanted them to learn, and I saw a recipe for porchetta that I HAVE to try.

Use a young pig and cut a boneless loin chop then keep deboning to the end of the ribs, keeping the bacon attached. Lay the meat flat, season, roll it up fat side out, tie with string and cook low and slow. Finish hot to make bubbly, crunchy goodness on the outside.

The best wine club gifts come from outside vendors. They give you a sample for free and you give it to wine club members. This should be an active part of your marketing programs cross promotion strategy.
