Yeah, im curious for an answer to that. I prefer to put up with spam and have privacy, but still Nostr does not solve the problem the annual payment actually does (blocking spam)

There is no way to pay without giving away your identity. That is all they want. They might as well ask for your passport photo, and charge nothing. That would be a better deal breaker. I find it hard to believe people will fall for this $1 scam.

I also think part of the reason for NOstrs failure to attract people is that EVERY client I know exists puts zaps/bitcoin features front and central and its a turnoff to most people, right or wrongt. The zaps should have come later, crypto is a turnoff for newbies. It would have been better to get them on board as a free speech platform rather than a crypto driven free speech platform.

Really? I have found very few non bitcoin people on Nostr. And just ONE from my twitter feed of 800 (half of which are well known people). Nostr is failing to retain anyone but bitcoiners. That is just the facts. Its depressing.

'Introducing $prism, an easy way to create lightning prisms and #zap splits on #nostr. '

Crypto bros are insufferable ouroboros.

'a thing that help the thing make the thing a thing you want'

What is this thing?

'a thing!'

'There is plenty of land, water, etc available for people that have no means. '

This is simply not true, at least not in the UK and many other western european countries. Land is unaffordable and forbidden to grow things on for the most part Even getting an allotment in the UK has now become near impossible. The greedy capitalists own it all. Landlordism is nearly at its peak. We are moving into a feudal system. Inheritence of land going back to 13 century means land is never acquirable by anyone else without a bloody civil war against landlords and capitalists (increasingly the exact same thing now)

Actually, Rumble fixed it ages ago. Weird how they are still allowed to operate without the interference of the US (deep) state.

Its stolen because there are no oprtions when the capitalists already own all the means of production, land, energy, housing, water supplies etc. You can't consent not to sell them your time, except, as I pointed out, by chosing instead to suffer, starve and die. I don't value others time more than my own, I value living. But capitalism doesn't allow that. It doesn't allow you to value your own time.

I'm sorry Jack, but this is the most ridiculous, blind-privileged and untrue statement you have ever made. Only rich people own their time. We live in a world where wealthy capitalists control everything and everyone, and always it is through stealing their time. Time is prized from us daily by the greedy and powerful. Consent to do so is imposed. The only thing we own is the right to choose starvation and death instead. Does time exist after death?

theyb won't run without a powerful GPU which startOS boxes do not have. You need a beefy PC/GPU as a server for this to be functional.

Ok nostriches , we need to talk about key management: Alby is centralizing Nostr ( eg https://nostr.chat/ ). Nostr app developers need to stop mandating it, Alby requires registration with email addresses. That's not freedom. But Nos2x is the ONLY alternative in existence (as far as I know) But its not great, and I wish to god someone would change the stupid name, and make the UI more user friendly. So my question : is anyone working on a decent key manager? it seems that without it Nostr is pretty much junk tool. Its probably the most important tool for mass Nostr adoption and currently there are only 2 very poor options. This needs fixing, if I could I would do it myself.

They are very limited and always will be. Examining the code is not.

Theres no such thing as 100% security and there never will be. But that doesn't mean you should leave your door unlocked at night.

'hope you've audited your compilers and CPU microcode too'

Using this argument you might as well forget using any computer altogether if you care about privacy. And especially the internet. Its an extreme argument but a fair one, and despite my own actions, I actually DO advocate it. ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5qJjNM2Kx0 )

That said, I stand by my point, open source is MORE likely to expose security concerns than closed sourced ever can. The risk is lower with OS, I never claimed it is eliminated. And lets be honest, NOBODY with more than one brain cell has made that claim, I find it irritating to hear people use that strawman over and over whenever someone advocates using open source as if they ever claimed its the holy grail of internet security. It isn't, AND its still a better way of reducing risk.

No, and that is not what I said. If it is open source there is opportunity to check the code and see if it is trustworthy. With closed source there is no opportunity for that. You can never really know, and often you can't even get a clue.

I know i can use my own node, but almost nobody is going to do that. Let alone the average user of nostr.
