I’m all for giving the 🖕to apple but not updating damus may have negative side effects like

- less users getting whatever dope shit nostr:npub1xtscya34g58tk0z605fvr788k263gsu6cy9x0mhnm87echrgufzsevkk5s builds

- less users finding bugs/regressions in new releases

- extra dev work to maintain two branches?

I have no good solution, just a friendly PSA to consider

I’d take this a step further for the homies and remind them there’s nothing wrong with being able to live privately. it’s wrong for govt/big tech to monitor literal everything. here are some examples from my own life:

- don’t share your phone number for reward points at coffee shops, grocery stores, etc

- when someone calls and asks “Hi am I speaking to $name”, immediately ask who is calling before providing any information. if it’s sensitive information ask for their name and call back on the company’s publicly listed number

- no Alexa, ring cams, etc on your property

- leave the cell phone at home every once in a while

- use a unique email address per service

- pay cash

- do not install apps like facebook, instagram, etc on your phone

- browse the web without being logged in, block tracking, default no script

looks like they store the relay db locally on your umbrel node at ~/umbrel/app-data/nostr-relay/data/relay

you should be able to save a copy of that directory.

this. people gloss over the fact there is _some_ custodial period even when you’re actively self custody-ing.

the CEX either holds your corn in their infra or a 3rd party custodian for some amount of time, during which you may be rugged.

still have to put fiat in an exchange to buy bitcoin*. then you have to withdrawal the custodied bitcoin to your own cold storage.
