True. I havent found any that take LN payments which would better default privacy.
I wonder is it possible to atomically swap LN to onchain somehow?
Ive heard namecheap is a good one.

Seeing a major “crypto” wallet offering proper bitcoin on-chain support is what I call a win.
A very thoughtful friend gifted this book to my son on his recent 4th birthday. This morning, we read it together for the first time, at my son's request.
I had assumed he was too young. I was wrong. He was rapt, asked insightful questions, and enjoyed it.
It's a well-crafted book. Highly recommended.

Savings deposits were reclassified from a non-M1 component of M2 into M1 itself. Since M2 ⊃ M1 that change isn't actually reflected in the M2 chart. You can see the M1 chart ~triple overnight when the change was made: https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/M1SL
Ah ha! thanks, that makes sense since deposits these days are use like physical cash. All I found one of the few ~non-sneaky~ things the Fed has done lately. 🧐
Anyone know why the FRED removed savings deposits from their M2 stats. in May 2020? Right before that change it looks like M2 as going vertical. Is there any way to compare what current M2 would be like with/without this change?
Have you taken a look at Dioxus ? Should be able to make a very attractive desktop UI if youre comfortable with html/css styling.
Not a bug, a primary feature:
“Self-hosted wallet users can easily trade crypto assets by relying on peer-to-peer trades or by relying on fully decentralised applications. Given the lack of service provider involvement, this ‘dark side’ of the crypto ecosystem is fully out of the reach of tax authorities.”

Square did their part, now let’s do ours. For bitcoin to become everyday money, merchants need to accept it. But first, they’ll need a reason to. We've put together the resources to help anyone make the case that only bitcoin can defeat credit card fees: https://bitcoinmerchantcommunity.org
These resources include persuasive leave-behind materials that bitcoiners can bring to local businesses, from subtle, home printer-friendly handouts to bold, attention‑grabbing combo pieces like, uh, a plushie with impeccable penmanship.
But no matter how good a leave-behind is, it’s better with a face. Included with each leave-behind is a playbook for you that includes step‑by‑step guidance for how to make the bitcoin case to merchants.
We hope for this community to be an open and independent group with a simple goal: bitcoin payment adoption among merchants—regardless of which point-of-sale solution they prefer. It’s also where all of the resources we’ve mentioned so far can be found for free.
For now, if you want the plushie combo, you'll have to pick it up at @bitcoinpark_ in Austin and Nashville, @atlbitlab, @SpaceDenver, and @PresidioBitcoin. This might change, though. Who can say? Bitcoin is weird and it’s only getting weirder.

A whole article about discontinuing pennies and not one mention of why they now cost more to make than theyre worth. Hint: its inflation and all the fiat money has become worth less.
I heard that not everyone got the update, maybe need to wait or force update somehow
You can also use BTC Maps:
Find local #bitcoin accepting merchant via the CashApp app.
1. click on the "Money" bank icon
2. click on "Bitcoin"
3. scroll down to "Ways to use bitcoin"
4. click on "Spend bitcoin"
5. allow location access (☹️ otherwise app crashes)
6. find your local bitcoin accepting merchants!

The internet definitely killed BITNET relay, but the concepts it pioneered live on in IRC. AFAIK UUNET news and readers still exist but are not installed by default on any modern systems.
It's cool and interesting to see new tools like #bitchat incorporate concepts from both. BITNET relay used /
While a student in the late 90s I worked the weekend graveyard shift as a datacenter "operator". My primary duties were change the 1/2 inch backup tapes and racking them with their corresponding green bar printout logs. I also cleaned the backup drive heads with a q-tip and isopropyl alcohol and made sure all the nightly batch jobs finished.
I also read Usenet news, chatted with strangers on Bitnet Relay and played a lot of NetHack. Good times.
TIL Philippa of England (ca. 1394-1430), daughter of Henry IV. In an alliance with the Nordic Kalmar Union, Henry brokered the marriage of 12-year-old Philippa to Eric, King of Denmark, Norway and Sweden. During the siege of Copenhagen, she kept the enemy at bay and the city did not fall.

My little AI research assistant pointed me to this data on glyphosate use in the US:
Will our elite top 1% be managing, repairing, upgrading, etc. the spyware and killer robots? Won't the other 99% also be able to acquire their own counter-spyware and protection bots?
I'm just saying if bitcoin prevents most people's wealth from being covertly siphoned off, as in our current system, it will be much harder for a small minority to control them.
Re 8: how will the socialist/communist/authoritarian govs pay the enforcers of their policies if over half of capital/wealth is difficult or impossible to confiscate? If it's the rich elites footing the bill will they really be able to sustain their position in a new hard money (bitcoin) world?
My understanding of the most recent hard money era is it tended to empower the productive but also improve the standard of living and thus autonomy of even the relatively unproductive due to monetary deflation, improved capital allocation and tech innovation.

Certainly not “the public’s” safety they a worried about
Cake uses Electrum which basically doxxes your addresses to the server operator.
ZEUS uses Neutrino, which takes longer to sync, but is privacy preserving. More details here: https://docs.zeusln.app/for-users/embedded-node/faq/#where-can-i-read-more-about-neutrino-and-the-privacy-that-block-filters-provide-when-syncing-zeus-to-the-blockchain
For everyone interested in neutrino aka compact block filter syncing check out this deep dive from @rustaceanrob:
Agreed. For me it’s the difference between walking to work and riding my bike. Both take effort, but I get there faster riding and it’s a lot more fun. I’d even ride in on the weekend some times just for the joy of it.
Whenever I read about this bill I think "Faustian bargain". The stable coin folks get full access to the US market and all the money and power that comes with, but lose any pretense of privacy or censorship resistance. They think they can somehow cheat the Devil, but he always gets his due (in this case complete government/bank industry capture).
