🪫😬

Haven't been spending any time on bluesky?

Can anyone give me a better understanding of paid relays? I have read a couple explainers and I understand them better but I still have questions.

I get that the main purpose of them is to reduce/eliminate spam, increasing the signal to noise ratio. But I'm having troubling seeing how exactly that plays out in the current state of the network. Can anyone give a specific example of how it has made their experience on Nostr better?

Do paid relays just improve your global feed quality or does it also make your follows feed better in some way?

Do paid relays increase the reach/viewcount/likes/comments/zaps on your notes in any substantial way?

Are you seeing notes from users that you didn't see when using only free relays?

Another benefit I have seen given of using paid relays is higher speed. Has any one actually experienced recieving notes or their notes being propagated at a noticable higher speed on paid relays? Or is this more of an expected benefit as the network grows?

Does anyone actually use the global feed and find it useful? If so, what do you get out of it? On Amatyst I find it completly useless with the default relays. Whenever I open it up it is the same spam messages over and over again. On NostrGram the experience is much better. Most of the irrelevant garbage is gone but it isn't that much different than what I see in the Following+ tab. I still find the Following and Following+ tabs to be more usefull at feeding me notes that I am interested in.

The only thing we can be sure of is there will be plenty of surprises

Maybe they've retained a lesson from being on the losing end of 2 world wars?

I haven't been able to get it to work in weeks. Maybe I'm the problem 🤔
