Time to head back home.

This creature crawled out of the ebbing surf. We watched it in awe of its colors and features.

This is a tree trunk wedged against a rock. the "trunk" part is facing away from us, like we are under the tree looking up. Some of the original soil and rocks are still trapped between the weathered roots. Some fungus was growing out of it.

I love watching a wave roll in.

Essence of an offshore wind.

A harbor seal was checking us out while enjoying the sun. Several times, this cutie popped up, rotated to get sun on all sides, and sometimes yawned. After enjoying the shallows in front of us, I saw it further north, going around the point.

This looks like rings of snakeskin. Jellyfish skins maybe?

I spent a good deal of time watching for big waves to hit this gap in the rocks, and getting into a meditative state watching the water drain away from the rocks. Meanwhile, there were plenty of large splashes on other rocks in the background, like watching multiple fireworks displays at once; ooos and ahhhs abound.

Here's an example of a (former) quartz vein in a beach rock.

There are huge rocks like this one. At first, I thought this was a concrete block from a washed-out structure. However, @Raven pointed out the layers of quartz between the cracks. Later I climbed a boulder that was the same medium. It's quite amazing to think of how this large compososite material formed. The individual rocks within are all sheared at the surface. Maybe a sign of glacial activity in its history.
