IIRC what the Polycentric protocol they're working on could be applied as a layer to almost anything.
You could browse nostr without an account and then just comment and likes using the polycentric ID. That way your comments like shares and everything stays with the polycentric ID, while you can still use it to comment and view other social sites.
I don't yet really understand it fully though.
