Along the way the noise settles and you're able to see it in so many perspectives (positive and negative if you follow the Monero feud🤭) that you genuinely feel you understand it enough to make a decision.
I totally love bitcoin now and am trying to orange-pill folks too but I understand the rot in trust the NFTs and the BROs caused so I personally avoid the main talking points until I gauge where they're at.

I like your idea as is, the most popular relays seem to be stirfry but honestly whichever is easiest for you to maintain will be the best option. Heck, mine is currently running on windows until I find something easier to maintain and so forth.
