There is one simple truth in life: we must die.

And if we must die, can we not do so with Virtue?

If we can live well, then surely we can die well. The surest way to avoid dying well is to be painfully dragged into the void instead of willingly walking into it.

If you ever find yourself saying "I'm on the right side of history", maybe just take some time to reflect on your actions.

You may very well be right, but you could also be incredibly wrong.

Learn to question yourself.

"What upsets people is not things themselves, but their judgements about these things." - Epictetus

I often find myself struggling with the friction between my undying love for humanity, and my unending disdain for specific humans. Ultimately I could never be a misanthrope, but I'm not blind to the deep evil and depravity that people are capable of.

"If you are distressed by anything external, the pain is not due to the thing itself, but to your estimate of it: and this you have the power to revoke at any moment." - Marcus Aurelius

You're allowed to say that you don't know.

You don't have to have an answer for everything.

Just be willing to continuously learn and improve.

Question everything.

Nobody is without fault or some deficiency of character.

Not you, not me, not anyone.

So treat your heroes with due skepticism and your rivals with humility.

You can't change the world, but you can change yourself. Work on cultivating Virtue within yourself without placing judgement on others. And do not seek to advertise your Virtue to others, because then you're not being Virtuous at all.

If someone insults you and you feel insulted, remember that it is not the fault of the other person.

It is your fault for allowing yourself to feel insulted.

You attach meaning to their words and assent to it as a truth. Their opinion means more to you than your own.

I think that Stoicism should be taught to all children at a young age.

Not the grumpy, unfeeling kind, but the actual ancient school of Philosophy pioneered by Zeno of Citium and refined by the likes of Seneca, Epictetus, and Marcus Aurelius.

All human rights stem from the central right to private property.

Without the right to private property, all other rights are up for negotiation.
