BANDWIDTH LIMITS

When a lot of people talk about the future of Bitcoin they talk about how storage is getting cheaper. They forget that bandwidth isn’t necessarily free.

One thing I’d like to report is I’ve annoyingly hit my ISP 1200GB data cap for 3 months in a row. I haven’t synced a Bitcoin node in any of those months!

Sure we watch a decent bit of television on the 4K TV. Yeah I’ve downloaded a couple AI models.

My ISP charges $10/50gb after the cap. If my standard usage hits the cap, and I ALSO have to download the blockchain it would cost me (650gb/50gb) = 13 * $10 = $130!

The blockchain costs $130 in bandwidth LOL

Wonder if you can run NixOS on the raspberry pi

Me making content exclusively for Nostr, and all I get is the curtesy shacka brah some times

Nice! 👀 A good start! Heres to following more people and more followers!

Most everyone who has looked into mushroom cultivation has heard of the PF Tek. It is the easiest and most forgiving way to get started growing mushrooms.

I had attempted PF tek long ago back in college but I failed back then. When I got back into mushrooms more recently I skipped over it and just started making grain spawn with millet and rye.

HOWEVER, I thought it was good to brush up on some basics, so if anyone ever asks me, I can help them out. So today I did PF tek!

Hopefully I'll put together all of the pictures and get it posted to the blog this weekend, so stay tuned! We are all standing on the shoulders of giants, I haven't done anything new or innovative here, just following the directions, and hoping for success!

I run a Kubernetes cluster on two machines at home, and one machine in the cloud (for the public ip mostly). It was a little annoying to get started but now I have a solid base to deploy a lot of cool stuff. I use Tailscale for networking between all the nodes.

Haven’t posted anything mush related in a bit. Harvested this funky Natalensis this weekend! Super crazy caps! Took a clone!

I’m sure it needs to connect to a node but not necessarily be on the same machine. Never heard of this software before can you link the git?

I had a depleted lightning channel to a destination that pay toward a lot. Considered some options.

Tried using thunderhub to rebalance the channel. But honestly it’s been years and I’ve successfully rebalanced using that UI like twice. It didn’t work.

I have some fun Python code which also does rebalances and is generally more reliable. But my code isn’t totally set it and forget it either. Takes a bit of time getting all the pieces working.

Pretty sure my partner doesn’t run PeerSwap with liquid either.

Ended up opening a new channel 🤪it costs like 16K sats, but at least it took like a minute and then it’s done.

Liquid culture is also somewhat easy to mess up and then you’ve just expanded bacteria. I was trying to get good at LC for a bit but right now I have more luck with transferring a small chunk from a Petri dish, to a jar of grain, and then finally spawned to woodchips, which can be placed outside.

On the flip side I do agree LC is the easiest for the at-home grower to get started if you just buy it from a vendor.

The induction heater thing I am working on allows you to quickly and easily heat up a scalpel when germinating spores on a petri dish. You can clean up a culture on a Petri dish then send to grain, then send to woodchips or other things. It’s just better to clean a culture before trying to expand it but not always necessary.

Pink oyster cause mayhem at my house. Sooo many spores!

This is still WIP but my induction heater is Open Hardware:

This OSH hot plate looks cool. I would also love an OSH magnetic stirrer.
