Say hello to the #turkey chicks. Mexican black broad breasted and they all arrived alive and eeping away this morning before dawn. They are nice and happy in the warm brooder and I have ample food supply to get them nice and big.

Managed a fairly full day yesterday, especially once the sun was up and had warmed the farm a bit. The greenhouse managed to get pretty hot during the day thanks to the sunshine. I have to adjust it soon to keep it more moderated. Moved some of the fencing around in the yard so the dog can better keep the deer away.
Birthday sushi was delicious and super filling such that we didn't need dinner. Drinks were fine though and we got to go to a place we haven't been to in years, despite it being 2 miles from the farm.
I picked up our turkey chicks this morning and will be soon getting them in the brooder. Quite excited!

Spring is in the air #Nostr!
The #garlic has ALL popped, in my first attempt at growing it! I am so excited to have over 200 that have come up and will for sure have enough to save to plant again in October for harvest next year. The Inchelium variety is native to 30 miles west of our farm so I KNOW it will grow well here.
Thanks to a bunch of you #nostriches here I ordered my #LoRa set and am looking forward to learning a lot about #meshtastic in the coming weeks. I plan to have our valley covered and connected with it this year. Also ordered a Pi 0 and an E-ink display to make myself a Moscow Time display for my desk and to learn python better. Finally have a project to make me learn more coding.
I totally borked my first attempt at colloidal silver so will for sure have to be WAY more present on the next batch. Live and learn I guess.

Just ordered myself a pair of ESP32 #LoRa to start playing with #meshtastic. I have a lot to learn but am excited for the process. Also picked up a Pi 0 and an Eink display hat to make myself a #moscowtime display for the wall by my computer. Will be great for making me learn coding better.
The only way to "properly" do a destination wedding is to pay for everyone's travel and accomodations. My wife went to Costa Rica for our friend's wedding and the groom's father paid for it all. THAT is all good but making people pay their own way is jsut not going to happen for 9 of 10 people

Yesterday was a typical Spring day in the Pacific Northwest with a mix of weather over most of the day. The sunny rains are really cool and just feel like Spring. The brooder hut is almost ready for the turkey🦃 chicks that will be here Friday and I just need to tack the wire across the front.
Am seeing all the talk of #mesh and #LoRa so am digging in to learn more and hopefully get myself so I have a solar powered setup mounted up high on the upper property for longest range possible. It will be a perfect addition to my Ham radio setup and will give me another option for emergency comms and much more.

The day of rain nearly melted the last snow on the farm yesterday and I am super anxious for it to all be gone. The flock and herd are of the same mind as they now have more area to roam and peruse for nibblins. The birds followed the alpaca as she led them all up the hill.
It was an incredible finish to the Belgian darts open🎯 with Luke Littler throwing a perfect 9 dart leg in his win over Rob Cross for his first Euro tour win on his first try. He is the future of the sport for sure.

Yesterday was the biggest shit show of a #wrestling tournament we have experienced so far. What was supposed to be a smooth and easy tournament thanks to the digital bracketing devolved into just throwing kids on the mat hours after the fire marshal essentially shut the event down due to there being about 500 too many people in the gym. Most people just left and those that stayed were forced to deal with chaos. I feel bad for the kids who never got to wrestle.

My predawn grain run yesterday morning gave me a trailer load that I had to come up with a place to spread. I'm down to covering random areas of the farm as a means of weed control and as a place to put the grain since the gardens are all double coated now. It also gives the deer munchies that aren't in my gardens.
Not sure who watched the abortion of a boxing fight but that was just silly. Joshua looked pissed that he had to take part in that circus and straight ko'd Francis in a hurry. I'll stick to watching the UFC thank you very much, which 299 is on this afternoon and has a stacked card.

Yesterday morning I stopped and picked up the bird feed for the turkey chicks that will be here next week. I need a couple more bags to make sure I have enough on hand for them and I'm looking forward to getting to hear the gobbles again later this year. The goal will be to butcher most of them EARLY so the legs don't get too tough but we will keep a couple to get big.
I found something has been eating on the spinach plants in the greenhouse so I grabbed my bag of Diatomaceous earth and blasted the row with it in hopes that it will protect them. I will know better when I go check on things in a while but it should do the trick.
