For starters, Man Utd are worse than the under 8 teams my boys have played on... Just plain horrendous.
While that shit show was going on yesterday morning we got the hot tub cleaned, emptied, and filled. The idea was good for the spinning jets but the reality of them is garbage as all 13 spinners are broken. The nubs on the balls all sheared off so this week we will see about replacements.
My big barn spider surprised me in the coop then I found the super cool looking black wasp in the greenhouse. It was rather chill and didn't seem to afraid of me.
Our afternoon was spent with other families at the park where the kids all had a blast in the river.

Yep. I normally spread over the gardens in winter and till in spring but for my garlic garden I need it prepped for October.

The garlic garden is now well covered in grain and just needs a really good tilling. I'm hoping this will be a good bed for the garlic to grow in over winter but this year I will need to cover with something other than pine needles as it would take way too many to cover the rows.
The sheep got their new bale moved in and I got the cage rebuilt since they had nearly destroyed it. I then got a closer look at the garden shed roof and found the mess of work I have ahead of me to get it cleaned off.

After my time in the greenhouse yesterday morning I did a bunch of hacking and slahing on the lilacs that have been waning over the recent years. There is still a lot more to take out but it will be a long process. I picked up the pallet of salt that will last us over a year and the boys helped me unload them. With the ridiculously high iron content in our water we go through a lot of salt and have to have plenty on hand.

Outstanding day yesterday as I got to fly off Quartzite mountain and then fly in front of the rock faces I have been wanting to climb for 25 years. I am the first of our club to make the flight and am super anxious for more. The .84 mile hike climbs 700 ft from the parking to the launch and is a solid workout. Afterwards went to Inkler's and got in a short flight before heading for home.

With the first day of school it meant I am back to my new normal schedule and am able to better focus on projects through the day. The gear shed is the focus for now and it has been in serious need of a LOT of TLC. So often in life it is easy to ignore things as they continue to get worse or degrade so as my mental health improves I am finding it harder to ignore them. This is a good thing for sure but HOLY SHIT am I sore from all the dirt moving. About 2 cu yds moved and at least as much more to move.
Today I take a break and go for a hike and fly in Chewelah.

The #sunrise yesterday showed the incoming storm in its colors as I was getting grain at dawn. Spread the grain over the garlic garden and emptied the rest to the sheep before the rains hit. Got a solid 25 pounds of green beans harvested after the plants dried a bit. Moved fences and the yard light strings but still have to finish fixing them down today.
Both boys had school open houses and they are both anxious to get back. I'm anxious to have my days back and now my afternoons won't be broken up by picking them up at school.

I was able to get it done in a few hours yesterday. The dividers got broken apart into the sheets then I got them all installed on the roof. I've been wanting to put metal on the roof for years but didn't want to spend the money, so this has been a true bounty to have laying behind the coop. I've had the office dividers for many years after finding them for free, I even made the cooler with some, so I am really getting as much out of them as I can.

Yesterday morning we went to the Nikkei Internment Memorial center in New Denver BC Canada, the only such memorial in Canada. HOLY SHIT! It's nice being back on the farm and my mental health is much better now so I can reintegrate to the farm easily and mellowly. The change from travel to home used to be a serious problem for me so this calm feels much better.

Halcyon Hotspring in BC Canada is super nice. I feel like it is one of the better quality ones in the region, some are pretty minimal all the way up to full resorts. For the resort style Halcyon is super slick. Not the biggest of places but it sits right on the edge of the lake and has really awesome water. I really wish the hot springs weren't all a minimum of 5 hours from home.

Quite the day yesterday. We stopped at the Glass Bottle House which I have wanted to see for 2 decades. Super amazing structure built from embalming fluid bottles. Then we rode the longest free ferry across Kootenay lake before stopping in Kaslo for lunch. The last drive took us to New Denver on Arrow Lake where we are staying in the Adventure Domes. It dumped last night when the thunderstorms came through but it was needed to help quench fires.
Today we go to the hot springs.
