CONCEPT: Tethered water harvesting airships that hold a hydrogen fuel system that creates enough H to keep the airship aloft and to power the water extraction. The airships could have solar skin and wind turbines as they float at cloud base, possibly creating extra electricity for the grid. The water then flows down a tube on the tether to storage below. The hardest part likely is the tether being strong enough and long enough but not too heavy.

The turkeys and chickens finally found their way to the upper property yesterday and have done a number on the layers of pine needles coating the entire pen. I have well more than enough to haul down to cover the garlic garden for winter but I will need tto use the old bed liner as the sled to lower down the 90 foot hillside. Should be interesting.

I just told my oldest to look up Zimbabwe and the inflation fiasco last night. His jaw dropped when he saw that an egg cost a billion.
Learning about LoRa and Meshtastic on the Survival podcast and this stuff is so up my alley.

I just got my pair setup properly again this morning. The Heltec Lora v3 is pretty cheap and I've gotten a 4 mile connection between them. I'm looking at more so I can setup one on a sensor for my packages box to alert when something has arrived and one as a base node.

The greenhouse is now harvested thanks to the lying weather forecast saying 25F overnight. Regardless I got it all in the house and cooler so now I can work on pulling all the plants and getting it ready for winter. I have to get grain spread in it this year so need it down to soil sooner than later. If only my body would stop the muscle and joint pain I could get this stuff done faster.

The #freezedryer finished batch 95 yesterday morning and the onion tops came out delectable, the boys started devouring them once home from school. I worked around the gardens during the day but today will be the real crunch with 25F tonight. I get the fireplace parts today but likely won't be able to get the work done in time... At least we have central heat to cover until then.
The #ISS is emitting #SSTV images and you can follow along with websdr.org I almost caught it yesterday and will try again here in about 45 minutes when it passes overhead next. 145.800 MHz is where you can hear the signal. Any #hamradio ops should be able to catch it.

Thanks to the muscle relaxers I was able to sleep so yesterday was a bit better. The PDC grand prix is on this week so I have the matches on during the day. Despite my need to rest my body I still had to get something done for the day. I'd been meaning to move it for months so the treadmill finally got shifted to the other studio.
In the late afternoon I began the process of collecting hte fir pitch from the stump I am removing. There are patches a 1/2 inch thick! I'm scraping oodles of it off and am going to save it in a big batch to melt down. Fir pitch has for eons been used for an innumerable variety of uses but was usurped by the manufacturing industry. No point just burning it in the firepit, at least not what I can collect.

Batch 95 is in the #Freezedryer now. The bunching onions tops all sliced take up a lot of space but do press down to fit the shelves. We use slices of oven liner over the top so the food doesn't touch the heater beneath the shelf above. Shouldn't take too long so I hope to get another batch started soon after the machine defrosts from this one.

Deer will, most rodents, maybe the wandering goat?. Always good to cover young tree trunks with wraps or even loose pvc if pests have access. You could treat it like a grafting point and wrap the damaged areas.
Oopfh this stump is a pain in the ass. Huge, old, and now partially removed. I have had to chunk it out since it is a foot wider than the length of my saw bar. I took the tree down 5 years ago and am now finally removing the rest. Talk about a sore back though... The amount of sawing I did on the stump was easily as much as the entire tree I cut up and brought home. Now I have sharped ALL my chains so I can get the rest removed.

Holy balls! That was quite the few days out in the forest getting #firewood, #camping, #hiking, #caving, and #exploring with my oldest best friend. We dove into some amazing caves in the bottom of the canyon, found more rocks, cleared trails, then cut loads of firewood. Yesterday dawned red so I knew it was time to cut wood and head for home. I drove home into a solid rain storm but it stopped early enough for me to get the truck unloaded.
While splitting wood J found and incredible pair of spiders squished in the wood. The pic is towards the bottom of the slew of pics. No telling how old they are.

After my chiro appointment yesterday which really helped my soreness I got the yard cleaned up around the wood cover. With the load of wood I will be bringing home this weekend I needed it cleared and ready. I've had the images in my head of the wood cover for over a decade but never took the time to build it so to have it coming together like this and looking as good as it does makes me quite pleased.
Before bed I had a frog vistor next to my computer that must have come in with the house plants from the greenhouse. It is now in the basement where it will have water, bugs, and stay consistent temperature as long as it hangs out down there.

It's the end of the growing season for sure with the freezing temps setting in more now. I got a bunch of smaller tasks done over the day and mid afternoon popped open the bee hive to find they had not moved into the upper super. I pulled it and put it in storage after the bees had moved back in the hive. I hoping the 2 full supers will be enough for them for winter.
