I'm really quite pleased with the bulk of hte garlic this year. The production has been pretty good with some really nice sized heads. I'm figuring out the varieties a bit now and am seeing the ones I will be planting much more of this year. Dialing in the quantiities I need to save of each for seed and it looks like we will have at least 10 pounds for us to eat over the winter and spring.

We tried. We tried and failed. At least the 2 best pilots (1 PG and 1 HG) got in the rather rough and way to strong winds and got flights up into the northern Idaho panhandle. The rest of us had no desire to put ourselves into that mess.

All the rocks are classified now from the sapphire mine and now will be getting washed and sorted. Made a quick vid of my process showing just how fast and easy it can be.

How's that for some berry picking #ProofOfWork? 5.75 pounds of Thimbleberries picked between the four of us in an hour and a half. They are some of the hardest berries to pick fast and thus tend to be much more of a delicacy than most any other berry. Plus they only grow wild.

The #garlic is amazing this year and I am quite anxious to get the next planted but I have to wait until October for that.

Best #paragliding flight I've had so far. My SIV course REALLY helped my head and I got a killer one hour flight by myself on a perfect #thermal day. Got bumped around all over the place and played in, around, and through the thermals trying to learn to map them. I am SO STOKED to get my first top landing, 200 ft from launch and 300ft from my car.

Them's fightin words! lol! There are some seriously badass rivers around. I have to say that the Merced in Yosemite is one, but an obscure and truly gorgeous one is Bone Creek near Blue River BC Canada. Slot cut, falls, cloud like areas of moss that you float on like a pillow, garnets popping out of layers along the river, crystal clear water.

The Fly Catcher chicks are near fledglings now and crammed into that tiny little nest. I'd be glaring too in that situation. While at the creek tunnel with the boys we saw a pair of Mink that live along the bank, and were pretty bold seeming. Then in the efternoon I watched Levi's live track as he got the 3rd longest paragliding flight in the world for the day at just over 200km and his personal best.

Gained a new client yesterday morning and got his water feature back up and running. Have more work for him going forward.

It's great when I remember that I had already built the perfect thing to use for a light box and all it took was diggin it out and cleaning it off. The mine concentrate is popping out some really nice gems and some killer little fossils.

I am scheduled for my SECOND SIV course in September where I plan to go big and learn stalls and spins.

REALLY stoked on the #sapphires we are finding, already paid for the bag of concentrate with the gem jar filling quickly. Over 4 carats some of them so far... Got a bit harvested around the farm during the day which some went to dinner in the evening. As we were soaking this porcupine lumbered across the yard so I caught it and relocated it out by the river. Silly looking animals.

Yesterday was our trip home after my truly insane weekend of #paragliding SIV. We started with the #Sapphire mine before heading to the Broadwater Hot Springs fotr a well deserved and much needed soak. The drive home was mellow until we hit CDA then it turned to utter shit. Once home we found a hen had 11 chicks that got gathered and stuffed into the brooder hut for safety. It's nice to be home but there is a lot to catch uup on now.

Complete and total craziness yesterday as I got towed up over the lake and made my wing collapse then inflate again while thousands of feet in the air. It's the safe space to do these things and my first tows. Sacred was an understatement... Much less so now but still a lot of nerves.

After the grain run in the morning yesterday we hit the road and made it to our hotel by mid afternoon. This is going to be the craziest few days of my life as I intentionaly get towed up then cause my wing to collapse and then fix it in air. It won't start with that but that is the world I'm in right now.

Lots of produce harvested yesterday but the biggest thing was the last of the #Garlic harvested. I'm feeling okay with getting 923 bulbs out of the 1011 cloves I planted last October. 13 varieties this year will be expanded to 21 for this next season. I plan to put over 2000 cloves in the ground which will make for quite the harvest in one year. NOw it hangs to dry and cure then I will sort and save my seed which will get put in the cooler to stratify for a few months.

Most of the #garlic has been harvested and is hanging to dry/cure now with about 15% left to pull. Trying to time it right and not let them go too long but long enough to be full sized. With the hot temps our little Fly Catcher needed to cool off in the breeze. It opened its wing and tail feathers then fluffed up its under feathers to allow the air to get to its skin. Hard working little bird keeping the 4 chicks fed!

The garden is producing pretty well now and the garlic has slowed some so I am just pulling the ones that are ready. Got in a really short flight mid day and ended up with the scooter throtlle handle dead just as I neared my car back on launch. Not the flight I wanted but it's the flight I got.

At least we got berries picked yesterday. The raspberry plants are still super loaded in their best production ever. I just wish they were a bit larger more like blackberries so they'd be easier to pick. All good though as we got over 2.5 pounds on a tray in the freezer.

The garden is producing and the beets look quite nice. I've found I've lost some of the garlic I had planted so likely won't reach my 1000 goal, but they are still doing pretty good this year. Next year I will be taking over the main garden rows for the garlic which will take some figuring out for winter.

Went north yesterday to climb/boulder and then go sailing on the Columbia River with my oldest friend. The boys had a blast and we had a great afternoon on the water. The clouds seemed to have kept most people off the river so we largely had it to ourselves. We got a killer fireworks display all the way home as they were going off big time. Mortars were flying all over the place!

The rule of thumb is that when 1/2 the leaves have died or turned brown it is time to harvest. You will still get bulbs now you just have to dig to find them since the tops may not still be attached.

The garlic harvest continues! 383 dug over the day yesterday which brings me to almost half of the 1000 I planted last year. Lessons are being learned and plans for this next planting are already forming in my head. Likely the farm will continue to be turned to potatoes and garlic with the gvarlic taking over the main garden this next year.

The greenhouse is now dealt with and the tomatoes are trimmed and tied. In the late afternoon yesterday I found that I have #Garlic that is ready. 2 rows were dug which gave me 110 bulbs, the same number I planted last fall. Siberian and Silver White varieties and I got some much nicer sized bulbs this year with better more consistent watering. More rows to dig today and I hope I get the 1000+ I planted when all done.

The rain is rather welcome right now since it has cleaned off all the dirt and dust from the plants in the garden which helps them grow better. After watching Aaron Durogati win the X-Alps I got some tree trimming done by the creek. Still a ton to cut out but slowly I am getting it into a much better condition than it was before all over grown.

HOLY SHIT! I had the best experience yesterday while kiting on the hill. One of my Bald Eagles flew over me then out into the valley where it spun circles in FOUR OF ITS REGULAR LIFT LOCATIONS!!! Each time it flapped its wings showing it had not found lift and moved on to the next spot. After the fourth location it tried and found nothing it just went right back to their nest. I now know exactly where to look for thermal and ridge lift thanks to that display.

Family bike ride to the lake and back yesterday in which I did over 10 miles. The new tires I have ordered will make much longer rides more possible with all of our backroads around here. Aiming for 50+ mile ride this summer.

The sled is fixed, again. The hose replacement was very needed and the new fuel filter seems to have helped a lot. I have it purring now and just need to keep it that way.

I don't have a tractor so I have to use a tow strap wrapped around the bales connected to a tree to turn them on their rolling side so I can get them off my trailer then move them around the farm buy hand.

Great flight yesterday at Tekoa, my highest yet and best thermalling I have managed to do. I have SOOOOO much to learn still but this was a great step in becoming much more comfortable in the air.
