In an age where privacy and individual freedoms are evaporating in front of our eyes, tools like Nostr and #Bitcoin will be ready when the flock finally migrates.
We're getting there.. The speed at which it got to this point is impressive, nonetheless
Ok, figured. Snort and Amethyst don't have that yet I guess..
Nostr is missing a notification for new followers..
Would that be client-side implementation? I assume it's tracked at protocol level..
Definitely an alien flying by and accidentally connected to our Starlink.
Either that or an AI is being birthed.
Yeah, the use cases for instant micropayments is enormous, especially in a world of sovereign individuals.
People often ask, why should you run your own private Nostr relay? It's simple. You run a private Nostr relay to backup your own data. This puts you in control of your own data. This prevents you from getting censored or rugged. If anything happens to the relays that you use, you can re-broadcast or transmit your data to other relays if so inclined.
Tools exist in various capacities to accomplish this, but I'll recommend 3 that I've used.
The shadowy super coder route:
https://github.com/cameri/nostream for command line ninjas.
The pleb route:
Umbrel and Start9 both have one-click relay options. Umbrel's is probably the best.
Is there not a way to back up your own data without running your own relay?
Where are notes and dms 'stored'?
Nothing of interest, surprisingly.
777,777 blocks of incorruptible, decentralized hard money.
Sent and received instantaneous micropayments today.
This year is gonna be great for Bitcoin.
Nostr is the ultimate tool for removing power from big Tech.
Bitcoin + Nostr = recipe for freedom.
Definitely a reason to celebrate.
Let's start with a week..
Miners are bullish. They understand Bitcoin fundamentals. In it for the long haul.
And heating their house with Bitcoin..
Agreed, and it's always advantageous to learn as much as possible about up and coming tech. Be ahead of the game.
It is somewhat worrysome setting up private keys in Nostr ecosystem right now, just because the keys must be so exposed to interact. Wonder if there will be a private key transfer mechanism in the future so that we can transfer profile to secure private key.
I think that's a good point. Safe and private management of private keys is no small order.
