Semi-human mutant. 18+ only. Kids, I don't like you. Not here to debate. My heart skips so if I debate you, you're gonna have to be the one to call the undertaker. The David Bowie of this and that I'd like to keep a journal but it never works out. Due to the graphic nature of this program, viewer discretion is advised. #NoBot #noindex

Tried making my own taco sauce and get as close to replicating the stuff I always buy from the grocery store.

I've got the sweetness down, most of the flavor down, but damn I underestimated how much cayenne was needed. "Hot enough" on the spoon isn't hot enough on the taco.

In a recent interview, Arnold Schwarzenegger was asked if he plans on upgrading to Windows 11.

Arnold shook his head and replied, "I still love Vista, baby!"

I finally did it.

I admitted to myself that portable operation is not a wise thing for me to do. Primarily due to my rare blood disorder. It's an interesting thing how even years after the diagnosis I'm still finding things that I just shouldn't do anymore. Brings the medical stories from some people I have known into new light.

Scratch the IC-705 home+portable plan, going for an IC-7300 and a strictly at-home station. But hey, it'll be cheaper, that's good news.

I'm going to be switching to Linux Mint soon.

I would like to use a calendar program, but one of the problems I have had with calendar programs in the past is that they're set up primarily or solely for keeping track of appointments and meetings. One of the reasons I still use a paper calendar is I can and need to write anything I want on it.

Is there any Linux calendar program that will allow me to both write appointments in and just write notes or anything else?

Y'know, I think I'm gonna use N connectors rather than UHF connectors. Just because I can! And I like the idea of a rubber gasket inside the connector, a little extra water protection.

Y'know, I might just get an FT-891. The more I think about it, I just don't need all the features of a 7300. The more advanced radios I've used, I felt like I was fighting the radio. But my simple TS-430 I had, everything just clicked; the 891 looks like a radio that I'm more likely to "click" with than a 7300.

Well, the large bush I was going to put the DX Commander in is out. The undergrowth is thicker than I originally estimated.

However, found a place closer to the house that will work. It would be 15' from my AL siding, but from my previous computer modeling experiments with yagis I don't think that will cause issues. And I won't need to worry about burying a coax joint and buying the tapes to protect the joint!

One of the reasons I was on the fence with a 7100 for portable. Plus a KX3 is way more compact and the 2 meter option operates on its own jack, don't need to switch out HF and 2 meter antennas. And I just like the look of the KX3 more than the 705.

Did yet another deep-dive into transcievers as the total cost to get back on the air with an IC-7100 was becoming prohibitive

Looked at the G90, and while the form factor and price were very attractive, the small screen, power, and Sherwood test numbers were not.

Took a look at what #Yaesu has to offer, and it looks like an FT-891 is the ticket for me. Just over half the price of a 7100 with nearly all of what I like in it. I think the screen is easier to read too.

Oyster crackers are underrated.

These hurricanes have gotten me to thinking about my communication plans if disaster strikes my area. Where I'm at in western Pennsylvania we thankfully aren't subject to anything beyond tornadoes that never get close anyway.

I see a credit union loan application for two IC-7300s in my future. I was gonna save up for the home station first and then get a portable kit going as finances permit. But in the face of current events it would probably be prudent to expedite this.
