nostr:npub1v2sycpx32th4h4aude3jq4g0kgj0p2t5062059l0fx0vcn8njs8spcmqq5 absolutely....the 11th will NOT tolerate that.

nostr:npub135d09thfh03cpu03rr9tk0kluy6suvf97afeajgsywzfgl0y973qvjtg9k I know what you're talking about. I've watched my sister heal for the last two years after living there for 12. It was a racist, traumatic experience unlike anything she'd ever gone through before. My parents were shook by that place. It was very upsetting to them that my sister lived there.

nostr:npub189nhq0cw33243htm08c53vjvgc5letv7d9sgqtgqsn6fnx6dv8zs0fsatx Against my advice, a good friend from NY moved there. She always had a dream of living by the beach in FL. And you know...you never want to step on someone's dream. So, we all stopped trying to persuade her not to go. She lasted two years and is now happily back in NY. We all breathed a sigh of relief.

nostr:npub135d09thfh03cpu03rr9tk0kluy6suvf97afeajgsywzfgl0y973qvjtg9k Damn. Yeah, my sister lived outside of Orlando. I saw our people in atrocious conditions. It was shocking, scary and hurt my heart.

nostr:npub189nhq0cw33243htm08c53vjvgc5letv7d9sgqtgqsn6fnx6dv8zs0fsatx That was the first place I ever lived, and I've been around the country, where I could not find a black community that I fit into. Until I retired in 2021 students were STILL asking if I was "allowed" to wear my locs in court!!!!! I just...I just have no words for that place...Took me 9 months to heal myself after I retired.

nostr:npub189nhq0cw33243htm08c53vjvgc5letv7d9sgqtgqsn6fnx6dv8zs0fsatx From the FL voters? Me neither. The federal judge ruled last year that the dismissal was illegal but not a federal issue. Where is the state Democratic Party ? What are they doing? Of course...I don't live there and thankfully, I don't work there anymore, but I always had the sense people were waiting to be saved instead of taking the initiative themselves...🙅🏾‍♀️

Thought some would find this interview of two Haitian New Yorkers interesting. They are talking about how the current situation in Haiti makes it difficult for them to help. And basically they do not support armed intervention.

nostr:npub189nhq0cw33243htm08c53vjvgc5letv7d9sgqtgqsn6fnx6dv8zs0fsatx Everyone should have seen this coming and been prepared for it. Worrell-Haughton is an excellent lawyer and community minded. After the dismissal last year of the prosecutor in Tampa, she would have been the next logical target. So...are the people who voted her in going to do anything?

#CriminalInjustice #BlackMastodon #BlackTwitter #PretrialDetention #DC @blackmastodon We started a project where we tracked what crime was being reported in the communities surrounding American, Georgetown & George Washington by reading the neighborhood papers. Crime was happening!! But, DC police did not make arrests of white kids. In one case some kids from Georgetown killed one of their team mates. The police allowed them to handle it as a disciplinary matter. That's how the system works. 2/2

He also enjoyed jazz and when we went to academic conventions would always make an adventure out of trying to find a jazz club. Those adventures generated many funny stories.I am glad his suffering has ended, but he will be missed.

#BlackFriday #BlackMastodon #BlackTwitter nostr:npub13vyftx2wglj740zpshq9rzv5gaa3djhkqw74ecry4mk7n3vt8htqwmlczv Some sad news for this otherwise glorious Black Friday: Warrior for the rights of the accused and race scholar, Prof. Charles Ogletree of the Harvard Criminal Law Clinic passed away today. He has been suffering from Alzheimer's since about 2018. Some may remember him from a PBS series years ago where he would have white people role play a racist incident. Then the discussion was the balance of the show. https://news.harvard.edu/gazette/story/2017/10/600-gather-to-celebrate-life-legacy-of-charles-ogletree-influential-law-professor/

You cannot get a Black jury in DC. It may have a couple of Black folks on it BUT they are not going to be a majority. Have never seen that in 23 years here....
