Was able to get the second door up after work. Will start the final milling of the slats this weekend. Didn’t want to complete the door and then hang because it is heavy.

8. Non-Utilized Talent: Not utilizing employee ideas and skills.
In essence, the eight wastes not only hinder productivity but also create an environment that affects the well-being, motivation, and satisfaction of employees, ultimately hampering overall organizational success.

Just talked to a friend that is a machinist in a large jet engine shop. He spoke about his frustration about getting management and engineering to listen about some issues in the shop.
He ended the conversation with, “I will retire in three years.” He basically gave up caring about the organization because he was not listened too.
Your people are your greatest asset. If they shut down and stop caring about speaking up because of apathy from management or engineering; your organization loses.
One of the greatest wastes in business is untapped potential.

First Door is Hung

Hung the first of two door frames today. They are mounted on standard galvanized barn door hardware set from Tractor Supply. I will add glass into the top space and will be milling out custom slats out of Douglas fir for the bottom space.

I have been a woodworker for about 30 years. You are on the right track. When you learn enough of the basics you will be able to branch out and be able to develop your own style, if you like. There is also nothing wrong with copying other styles out there. I learned long ago that most things have been done well before you started.
I wouldn't worry about what makes your work yours. If you made it, it is yours. If you want to cut a plain box joint by hand, then cut it out yourself and who cares. That box joint will have beautiful imperfections that a tablesaw will not give.
Use what you have, have fun and learn! You are a person that can make something out of lesser items, that is what it is about.
Post some of your items, when you are ready. I have followed you to see your progress.
