A while back, the big craze in #tech was #blockchain. Everyone was going to use blockchain everywhere and it was going to solve everything.

Now it's #AI, which has a more gripping narative that contrasts the potential upsides with the doom and gloom. The fact that it doesn't work very well (in so many ways) is ignored because "it'll get better".

Next is going to be #quantum #computers. The discourse will look very similar to the current AI conversation. There will be articles written about the wonderful breakthroughs that will be unlocked and others talking about the totalitarian state that it will enable.

I suspect it will be after the 2024 US presidential election, but before the 2028 election.

If I am being honest, what bothers me most about the Nazi era of Germany is not the idea that a failed, homeless artist with a meth addiction would become a tyrannical, murderous dictator, but that the Nazis are represented as a fringe movement supported by fringe people.

This is an absolute lie.

And it is intentional.

Because the truth is even more disturbing. If we face the reality that the Nazi Party was main stream popular culture in Germany (and even in much of the west at the time), we have to face some very disturbing things about ourselves. If we cant blame it on a "fringe leader" with a "fringe group", then we have to ask ourselves, "could I become a Nazi if the conditions were right?"

So let me spoil it for you...

The answer is yes.

Statistically, chances are, you would have been one of the people out there waving a little Nazi flag yourself. And telling yourself, "just dont get involved, its none of your business" when you saw the injustice starting to manifest.

Have you ever noticed most of the photos of Nazis focus on Hitler, and NOT the massive adoring crowds? Have you ever wondered why? Its because we want to forget. It terrifies us. And it should.

So here are some photos of what things really looked like. Of how easy it is to get swept up in the movement. Think about it. Think how much easier your life would have been if you just went along with the crowd. And how much harder it would be to stand against it.

And if you think this post in unnecessary and melodramatic, perhaps you are unaware of where we are.

Any different from children taught in a certain way before independence/adulthood?

It's weird to see some folks acting like LLMs are the path to actual artificial intelligence.

Call me when an LLM can make deductions and have original thoughts without being fed the entirety of the Internet first. That's not how actually intelligent humans work. Of course compressing the entirety of human knowledge into a fuzzy completion machine will make it sound intelligent. You're basically making a lossy encoded compressed version of things actually intelligent people have said, with a modicum of ability to generalize by simple association and statistics.

The Turing test breaks down when you throw enough Big Data at it. Congratulations, you've beat the test. You haven't created real intelligence though, you used big data to build a parrot with a huge vocabulary.

In my 3 decades and change years old, I’ve read a lot. History, fiction, non-fiction, even someone’s screwed up version of history and I’ve enjoyed all of them. But there is no better story told from someone’s mouth in their own words.

No matter how different they may seem to you or you may seem to them, there will always be something you’ll have in common in those stories. And I guarantee you, if you open your heart and mind to it, you’ll learn to love them.

Some stuff I got up to at the #pottery studio this week — a return to sculpture, my passion! Now that I’m back to sculpting, I feel a need to spend more consistent time on it.

I got some kiln-level heat-resistant wires as early Christmas presents - thick ones for hanging beads to be fired, and thin ones for making pendant and ornament hangers. So coming soon are bluebird and wren Christmas ornaments and some little mushroom pendants (Old Man of the Woods and Amanita).

I love #Bitcoin & #Nostr let’s put that out there, but this past year I have tried distancing myself from the echo chamber inside the Bitcoin community which is evident for those who have eyes to see.

Bitcoin is a monumental discovery and innovation which could change the course of humanity for the better, but for those you truly believe this is just about money haven’t dove in deep enough, blaming the monetary system, policymakers and institutions for the highly anticipated "fall" of civilisation is cutting it short in my eyes.

Bitcoin & The Internet may be the tool, but what is really required is a new way of thinking about reality, in my eyes this is clearly a consciousness problem, if you want to conjoin ALL of the problems in the world together then look more towards these issues.

Humans have the tendency and desire to explain the nature of reality, we strive for truth and knowledge, whether it be religion, money, politics, economics or science.

We construct conceptualised versions of the world to suit our illusions and beliefs, but the only thing we can truly know that real is this present moment and what you’re doing right now, and once you step outside the box of culture and embrace immediate experience you start to see the problems more clearly.

The world is currently driven by an unconscious society where greed, power, pride, ignorance and envy is rewarded, as Jung stated: “Where love rules, there is no Will to power; and Where power predominates, there love is lacking. The one is the shadow of the other.”

It’s all good having bringing in these new frameworks and models of responsibility to the table, but they only truly work if people are willing to accept them, the world is unable to adapt and change for the better if we are unable to collectively awaken together, cooperation is the key to a species survival.

The main point here is that a lot of humans are asleep and unconsciously living life, this breeds ignorance, with ignorance comes evil. This isn’t some post on how to attain enlightenment because desiring such a thing is a fault in its own means, we need to embrace the power of now and truly live. Life can be tough, but life is beautiful and you just need enough people to see it. That’s where most problems come from.
