Many years ago, when I was getting started in woodworking I wanted to buy my first pneumatic nail gun. I chose a 18 gauge brad gun.
It was good choice, However, it only held up to 1 1/4 inch long brads.
Good choice, but limited on the length. It would show its limitations on certain projects.
If I were to suggest a first pneumatic gun for the beginner now it would be a 18 gauge nailer up to 2 inch in length.
This is a great all purpose nailer for the beginner as it can handle most fastening and needs a smaller compressor for air.
There are a few good brands: Dewalt, Senco, Metabo.

Are you having trouble driving screws into materials you are fastening together?
Splitting the wood?
Stripping out the screw head?
Try pre drilling with a screw drill bit.
They are handy drill bits that are made for screws. Even with a countersink cutter.
The number corresponds with the number size of the screw.
Most materials fasten together better when pre drilled!
Cheers!

The woodworking community on Nostr is special, it’s a microcosm of Nostr that is organically forming and growing. nostr:npub1sd3wwlvl6f58yzs4ss90x07e4dwd7yl6h3n0pygpz9vqjcxd99aq90vwne here has over 30 years of experience in carpentry, and while he makes it seem simple, many of his tips and tricks prevent me from making rookie mistakes. I picked up woodworking as a necessity and eventually a hobby. It’s a great stress-relieving avenue and a dopamine boost. If this is up your alley, give Jeremiah a follow and a zap, and feel free to ask him your design questions and demo suggestions!

Thank you very much for your kind words!
Cheers!
It wouldn't be a permanent solution. However, it would always be handy to have.
I think you beat me to the video of your questions. I posted it late last night and just posted it on nostr.
Thank you for your kind words, i think it is fun helping people with there questions.
Yes, I believe you are right about the1000 grit.
I think Dewalt is fine. Many brands have gone downhill in the past years. However, Dewalt is still good as is Bosch, Milwaukee, and Metabo.
What kind of build would you like to see?

I have to more videos shot answering the rest of your questions.
Your welcome. Yes the dados and rabbets are impossible with a jig saw. However, I have been thinking of your situation. They do have smaller circular saws that may work for you. They would be easier to manage in the beginning and later would be very handy to have. Maybe 4 1/2” blade. Some are cordless. I think the trick would be getting a good quality blade. Blades always make the difference. I think you could very carefully nibble out the rabbet with the saw and a good straight edge.
I may do a video on tools for kids. May I use your post if I do?
I would definitely agree with the birdhouse. However, even though you can buy a kit at the big box stores I would actually buy the tools separately and just get one cedar fence picket.
Cedar would be easy to cut with a hand saw and to drive nails into.
You would need a good short hand saw, hammer, nails, drill, 1/2” drill bit, 1” drill bit, square for marking the wood to cut, 1/2” dowel, 6” x 6’ cedar fence picket.
Then he could use his imagination from there. I just started tinkering in my dad’s shop right around his age.
If you burn a few, that’s how you learn.
Let me know if I can help any more.
