I live on 14.5 acres in Amish country in Ohio. I have raised chickens, turkeys, ducks, rabbits & sheep. I’ve planted cherries, hazelnuts, peaches, mulberries, paw paws, apples, pears & nectarines. I garden (badly) but I am learning more every year. I work remotely for a bank as a mortgage underwriter- fingers crossed I am still doing that when you read this. I hunt on my land - have gotten 5 deer since I moved out here. Into everything homesteading.

I never do, but for some reason I occasionally prioritize that paycheck over my infrastructure and I don’t know why I make such a bad choice

GM Nostr and Happy New Year. When my sons asked me what I wanted for Christmas I asked for a day without electronics. Yesterday we turned our phones off from sunrise to sunset. I can’t remember when I’ve had a better day. Here they are learning how to process a pig I raised. My oldest son took the shot. His first time harvesting a large animal. Such a proud and peaceful day.

Good morning nostr, and happy friday. Today we'll be running a few errands, then i have alot to do around here later. I'm trying to get into organization mode, to better keep track of stuff, but its hard for me. And Lucy the puppy is taking up some of my time too. Even though she'll be a country dog, there are some basic things i'm trying to teach her while she's young. So it'll be another busy day, but i cant complain because i feel grateful for all the good things in life. Got another slow day in the loan mine coming. Both hubs & I have dr appts today so there will be a little breakup in the day.

Boss told me yesterday that she’s finally putting me in for a promotion that I earned 3 years ago, but it won’t come through until next year, and that’s only if I’m a good girl between here & there. Decided to spend more time working in the homestead as a result. At least that work is for me & I benefit no matter who approves.

Loan mine will be dead until maybe mid next week. Got Monday off though. It’s an Amish holiday, they call it Old Christmas. Since the hubs won’t be working (he works for Amish) I took the day off, means a 3 day weekend coming up for me!
