Pretty sure that UTC just took the already commonly used standard, GMT, and made it official. Not so random
Is it possible to backdate timestamps?
Good thread
Wow Primal is very good
Even in a low fee environment, I think it can be much longer than 2sec. There is latency sending msgs between miners<>pool.
I heard wiz and others saying getblockemplate itself was taking >1min on default node configurations in recent fee environment. It runs fast on my MacBook, but haven’t tested my RasPi 🤔
Mined just seconds after the prev block, both by Antpool. This just happens unfortunately.
If it happens significantly more on some pools than others (proportionally to their share of hashrate), it could indicate inefficiencies in the pool software, inefficiencies in their Bitcoin node configuration, OR a ‘selfish mining’ strategy… but it’s near impossible to prove the latter.
This phenomena is impossible to avoid completely afaik
who’s going to btc++ 👀
