Humanoid robots are interesting, but over the next decade, keep in mind the power requirements.

The human brain is an *immensely* powerful computer and runs on like 20 watts. It is a breathtakingly efficient thing. Plus with a bit of water and (optionally) some food, a human body can operate for days.

Getting humanoid robots to the point of being able to walk around and participate in our world with high levels of processing and long run times is going to be a hard and long-term engineering challenge. Harder than EV adoption. Robots in the real world are an order of magnitude more complex to get right than robots in a controlled industrial setting.

I’m pretty bullish on smaller non-humanoid home robots though. Things like robodogs. They can plug themselves in to recharge whenever they are low on power, and can do all sorts of tasks that a well-trained dog could do, plus some other things (language recognition, a mounted arm that can grasp things better, etc). They’ll get exponentially better in the years ahead.

Why I think Nostr is an alternative to people under autocratic regimes like Venezuela:

1) Inmune to Regime Control and censorship, so if the regime blocks social media (like it happened with X in Venezuela 6 months ago), Nostr cannot be blocked.

2) Decentralized and each user will own their account and followers.

3) Nostr is also a payment rail in BTC. This is KEY for freedom activists and regular citizens. At some point billions of $ of remittances will be able to be sent directly, fast and mega low cost.

4) Nostr is a BTC heavy community, these are people that take freedom and privacy very seriously. Freedom is the core purpose of millions who live under autocracy, so Nostr is at the intersection of financial freedom, free speech and political freedom.

5) expanding the community of Nostr people under autocratic regimes will be going to the frontline in the fight for freedom. There will be lots of learning and action.

From that perspective I think you are right, what I think we are both missing is the fact that we are comparing 2 different things, and in that comparison we are being very unfair.

One thing is a social media application, another very different thing is a social protocol that allows identity portability across different applications using the same social graph (understood as the same links, the users with whom we interact, read or are read by), which means an important evolution in the way we communicate socially on the Internet.

And as if this were not enough, with a native means of exchange of value that represents real value.

Is it possible to say now if Nostr is losing the battle? Again the question arises, how do we measure success?

Can we say that Bitcoin with 16 years of existence as a technology won? Can we say here that beyond all the difficulties in terms of adoption, legal challenges, and implementation of services, is it losing? I don't think so, and I am convinced that it is still very early in Bitcoin both in terms of technological evolution and financial success.

I think that most of us have chosen Bitcoin for different reasons but one of the most important is that we consider it a better form of money. I think that something similar will happen with Nostr, adoption and success will arise (or not) from the conviction of users that it is a better tool to communicate socially on the Internet, to generate friendships, interest groups or commercial activities indistinctly, but preserving a series of values ​​that distinguish it, and mainly a better, freer and sovereign way of conducting oneself in life.
