On the left side of the bell curve. Just a guy being a dude. Not a bot. Few understand.

One thing I don’t understand. Is there any meaning to the values that Satoshi picked? For example, is there a reason he picked 210,000, or is it pretty much arbitrary? The other equations from Pythagoras, newton, and Einstein don’t have values, they use variables, and they define physical reality. The equation from Satoshi doesn’t describe physical reality, it’s just the rule for a protocol he created.

You’re intentionally missing the point. The point is that sats are the small denominations that kids would learn about and use to buy candy. And whether we call that small denomination “sats” or “bitcoin” doesn’t matter and is just as arbitrary and easy to learn as it was to learn about “nickels” and “dimes.” Probably even easier if you ask me.

Often, when the miners breakeven cost is reached, they start to hold btc instead of selling it to market bc it doesn't make any sense to sell at break even or at a loss in the long term. Historically this has usually been bullish for the price. HODL! BULLISH!

Unit bias is an issue with Bitcoin. Newcomers often buy Dogecoin or other altcoins simply because they can own "a lot" of them, while the idea of ever owning a whole Bitcoin feels impossible. One proposed solution by nostr:nprofile1qqsgeksa4tajm7x673gq2v7t56dkgkh6pjhhzdhrgxlpke4za8jmmkqpzemhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuurjd9kkzmpwdejhgqgjwaehxw309ac82unsd3jhqct89ejhxqgkwaehxw309aex2mrp0yhxummnw3ezucnpdejqetk0p4 is to shift the language from 21 million bitcoins to 2.1 quadrillion bitcoins. Bitcoin is a great brand name and using satoshis or sats can be confusing. This would fix that too.

However, I feel this proposal would create confusion too, especially for those new to Bitcoin and for the media—because for 16 years, people have heard there are only 21 million bitcoins. Explaining that the total supply hasn’t changed, only the denomination, would be exhausting. Personally, I think calling them “sats” isn’t very intuitive, they should’ve been called “bits”, but at this point, I don’t really care.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think it’s all fine the way it is. The words and labels and denominations are all arbitrary anyways. Kids learn about dollars and cents and penny’s and dimes etc in school to learn math, which is really no less arbitrary then bitcoin - it was just established by precedent, just like it will be with bitcoin.

But is whoever you are paying the rent to receiving sats or USD? If they are receiving USD, how is this any different than selling your bitcoin to pay rent?

Now do National defense. How do we fund a standing military without taxation? And if we don’t have a standing military, how are we prepared to defend ourselves from attack? And securing a border? Not militarily securing a border, just securing it from immigration.

Yeah or flamethrowers. Or full auto guns mounted to the shoulders with a canister of ammo on the back.

What I don’t understand is, why does it have to walk? Wouldn’t a non-humanoid robot be easier to design and build?

I met him back in like 2011! He tried to get my parents to buy bitcoin, but they were too dumb to figure it out 😅 if only

This is really neat and awesome, but I don’t think this has the video call feature I’m hoping for?

What is the bitcoiner approved alternative to MS teams? Looking for real time text chat, file sharing, email/calendar integration, and video calls with screen sharing. FOSS would be preferable, but willing to pay for a good product, say, if Proton offered such an experience. #asknostr
