Turmeric can be grown really easily, just throwing it on the dirt will grow it. I just dug up a pile a while ago. No one planted it, it was here before. If you have land or a garden its easy to grow.

Ginger is a bit difficult, what you need to do is plant it clean pile of soil. Water is its enemy, if water is stuck on the roots for long it will spoil. If you a fan of ginger cutting it into small candy sized pices drying it a bit and then dunking it on melted sugar and drying will make it a home made candy.
