Dear business partners,

I wish you and your families a peaceful end to the year, good health and professional success for the coming year. As you know, I placed my business activities in the trustworthy hands of my sister at the beginning of the year and therefore unfortunately do not have the opportunity to meet you regularly, so I am all the more pleased to be able to welcome you again in person at symposia and congresses in the new year.

After Bitcoin crossed the $100,000 mark, I summarized an email with a lot of statistical material, explanatory videos, etc. and sent it to 35 of my best business contacts. As I have been working in the media sector for 25 years, I am very well informed, especially in the areas of business and finance. This mail was very friendly in tone, very factual, without any sales aspect or push. I wanted to find out what the mood is like among these people, many of whom are entrepreneurs, engineers and lawyers. That was exactly 24 hours ago and I have received exactly zero responses. The open hostility towards BTC is astonishing.

It's something I can't explain, but something we urgently need to discuss and resolve.

I was just thinking about this, yesterday, while everyone was freaking out and interrogating me about my Crazy Internet Money because I explained it in a couple of sentences and they kept asking about the same things, over and over, because they couldn't believe that that was the whole thing.

But, that's the whole thing. It's just this thing. Gold is money backed by chemistry and Bitcoin is money backed by energy, everything else isn't really backed, and that's the entire thing.

People will say “1 sat = 1 sat” until they’re faced with how much time and energy it takes to save up 100M of them. The people who throw that catchphrase around confuse Bitcoin’s rigid monetary policy with real world purchasing power. Within the Bitcoin protocol, 1 sat = 1 sat. In real world purchasing power, 1 sat = something very different today vs. what it meant 10 years ago vs. what it will mean 10 years from now.

Could we add relevant relays automatically whenever we follow someone? It seems that would offer the same benefits without the centralization. Not sure if there's some limit to the number of relays or if a client can discern which are read only, etc. I'm not buying that embrace the chaos is the best or only solution. Maybe it is, but I have doubts.
