civil liberty through complex mathematics

you can only get äøÆ970 for $1 at the moment https://hodl.camp/sats_per_dollar/ #bitcoin #satsperdollar

You have it right - I was reading it wrong! I’m new too lol

yes! So much so, though, that it leads to other problems not related to spending one’s wad like a teenager. In my experience, this belief can turn into a complete lack of concern for the person’s future condition, and then their health declines. Could write volumes on this

never mind- I figured it out

I tried to zap you some sats but it seems you have your public key entered where your LN addy should be

There’s always bitcointalk.org but that’s like the opposite side of the spectrum with a tortuous 90s interface and no mobile client access. I really want something in the middle lol

2-3 years ago i called myself a socialist. i’ve always wanted equal opportunities for all and for wealth to be more evenly distributed and in my idealistic academic bubble brain, this was how to achieve it.

thankfully since 2022 i’ve learned more about how the government is actively and constantly fucking over the general population via devaluing our currency with the money printer, sending our tax money overseas or using it to create missiles that are ultimately sent overseas, restricting basic constitutional rights and invading our privacy in the name of ā€œsecurity,ā€ creating barriers to business growth/development via ~environmental regulations~, etc.

while i haven’t taken self initiative to learn all i can about #bitcoin, thankfully my partner is passionate about it and has spent countless hours explaining to me how it works and how it can and will change the world (and already is).

i grew up in a poor family in a very poor, rural, uneducated town. i’ve spent my entire life waiting for some kind of revolution, for something to come along to finally help the working class rise up and empower ourselves. i spent practically all of my college years learning about and standing behind various social justice movements, but none of the solutions presented to me ever truly clicked or felt sustainable long-term.

now that i’ve been orange-pilled, i finally have the hope i’ve been searching for. i can feel macro-level change happening. the helplessness i feel when i hear about global catastrophes or governmental oppression is equally matched by the hope i feel when another country adopts bitcoin, or another corporation decides to add bitcoin to its treasury, or when people crushed by hyperinflation use bitcoin to keep themselves afloat.

this has been long-winded and probably disorganized brain vomit but the point of it all is i’m grateful - for bitcoin, for my partner’s daily info dumping (and for his constant flow of bitcoin podcasts lol), for my willingness to listen and my receptivity to the knowledge presented to me, for the global revolution i can feel and see happening. the version of myself from 2-3 years ago would be so confused about present-day me’s mindset and beliefs - the change has been night and day. but i’m glad i finally got here.

i don’t like posting things like this because i’m not great at articulating my thoughts and because it makes me cringe at myself so thank you #nostr for giving me a space to do so with anonymity. and if you’ve read this far, thank you for using a few minutes of your time to read a little bit about my personal journey 🧔

you did a great job of articulating yourself. I feel exactly the same way about how the hope from bitcoin is equalizing (or even surpassing) the fear from an unstable world. It’s a light in the darkness

Why nobody really has conversation here on #nostr ? Plenty of quips and quotes, but in-depth technical conversations about cryptography or bitcoin do not exist. I love the spirit, but was expecting more bitcoin devs and hackers, but it’s more like twitter of bitcoin with people focusing on personalities and 99% of posts are not in depth. Might as well have a character limit, because nobody reads long posts. I’ve only gotten reactions from short quips, and my questions go unanswered in #asknostr so I’m wondering is it just a case of small crowd? Do I need to add a hundred relays to actually get conversation with someone about software or protocols? I have 8 relays in there now. I love nostr but I’m confused about its purpose. I want to help #grownostr but my first recommendation would be for everyone to open up a bit more and talk, so new people see a vibrant community having conversations.

it’s especially confusing as an American if you travel and see how this is much more true in places like Finland or Denmark
