Money primarily has value, not because of what it is based on, but as a measure of work done or value created. It bypasses barter where two people want to trade, but don't produce things the other wants or at different values or at the wrong time. Anything that maintains its value, is easily transportable (can buy remotely at any time), and is easily divisible (so it can purchase .small & big things) Gold meets the first, but is very poor on the other two traits. The dollar is terrible at holding value, OK for transportable (slower than it should be), and good on divisible. BTC is the only money ever created that is truly effective at all 3.

I like voting 3rd party. In America people think voting 3rd party is a wasted vote. I want to get the 3rd party high enough that more people will vote for the candidate they want rather than the candidate they think can win.

If we can get the 3rd party vote over 10%, I think we could suddenly get a lot of people to leave the 2 major parties because most people aren't happy with either, they just hate one more than the other. Voting in America is kind of like choosing between Hitler and the Devil. Both are horrible. One is just a little less horrible.

The USD is debt backed. This means there are not enough dollars to pay all of the debt + interest. As time goes by, a higher and higher percentage of the value of our economy is transferred to the bankers. Theoretically a time will come when the bankers own all. (I do think the dollar will collapse and be dropped before then, though.)

The USD is backed by debt, which is bad because it means there are not enough dollars in existence to pay back the debt and interest, so the wealth is slowly being stolen by the bankers.

BTC is backed by work (done by computers). Money is a measure of work/value, so BTC should remain being worth the work put into it. The fact that BTC can be used to convert waste (like flare gas from oil wells) to value, makes it even more valuable.

Let me know if you receive my zap. It looks like it went through.

I think the problem is the perspective. Some people think that being baptized makes a person a Christian where the Bible requires faith in Jesus. On the other hand, having the church/saints bless a child, agree to do everything in their power to lead them to Christ, and to understand how God can bless a family or other group even when not 100% are true believers is reality, too. I'd argue that it isn't the action that matters but the purpose/belief that matters.

1 Corinthians 7:14 (NASB1995)

For the unbelieving husband is sanctified through his wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified through her believing husband; for otherwise your children are unclean, but now they are holy.

When my son was 8-10, he went to visit his grandparents. They went to a parade and he got candy. He then went to work with them (they owned their business before they retired). He was selling candy. He then came to us with concern because he said his money was being inflated away. He asked if he should only accept payment in gold or silver.

Although I told him nobody would buy it if he required payment in gold or silver, I was kind of proud of him for understanding money better than most adults.

I only have one on my phone because I rarely use my phone for social media or even email. I prefer using my computer. I can type fast on a computer. I am slow and sloppy on a phone. I basically have amethyst on my phone so I can post a picture, taken on my phone, to NOSTR without having to email myself or hook my phone to my computer.

They have to hype a pandemic so they can fix the election again, otherwise a lot of people could go to jail. #grownostr

I've been hesitant to post a lot of memes that can be considered political because the people on NOST are more solutions oriented than problem focused. Do people like seeing memes like this or would they rather not have their feed filled with stuff like this?

Keep this in mind when you see a fact check.

Life expectancy ≠ life quality

It’s the same Keynesian mistake they make in chasing higher GDP without any means to assess quality of the products or robustness of the economy.

The comparison isn’t a simple “how long do people live,” there’s a much more important question of “for the people who live to be 70, whether 100 years ago or today, which one still has their mental faculties, how many chronic disorders do they have, how many medications are they on, what can they actually do in their daily lives?”

The large part of life expectancy increase has come form *infant mortality* rates dropping. Which is amazing! But little of it has to do with how long and how well the lives of the elderly have improved. In many ways the opposite has occurred. The statement that “people in their 30s were about to keel over” isn’t true. It’s that people who lived in their 70s were being averaged with a huge number of infants who were dying in the first year. While older ages have increased some, quality of life and health in mid to older ages has been largely terrible.

Worst of all, life expectancy has stagnated and started to *decline* over recent decades.

Lastly, the incredible advances in medicine have been in *mechanical* intervention: surgeries, repairs, artificial replacements, basically the hardware version of human rebuilding tech. I fully recognize the insane advances there — Where I specifically said we have failed is *health,* which isn’t the same thing at all: that’s in how we treat patients, how we think about healing, quality of life, amount of chronic disorders the average person deals with in their daily life, the grotesque amounts of pharmaceuticals the average person is on, and the historically shocking levels of mental disorder and loss of mental capacity with age.

I'm glad I read your post before posting. I was going to mention the same fact that the short life expectancy was due primarily to high infant mortality. I could also add that there was a lot more death of pregnant mothers as well, but the infant mortality had the biggest effect on life expectancy numbers.

I wonder if it is because I don't have lightning on my phone and you were zapping a post from my phone. I mostly use my laptop because I hate typing on my phone, but I occasionally post a picture I took on my phone on Amethyst on my phone so I don't have to transfer it or email it to my laptop. Maybe if you zap that post it fails. That is the only thing I can think of. I normally always have alby and multiple clients open and setup on my laptop.

I wonder how many other zaps I've missed. I've always been able to zap and I've gotten zaps, but I don't get them every day. Maybe I've had a problem and not known it.

I agree. I've basically stopped using it. Because I used to like it, I check it every once in a while to see if it's been fixed, but the answer is always "No".
