I can't read the note. What's the meaning of this, exactly? I already use strictly Firefox-derived browsers (and will be trying Ladybird once it becomes alpha).
Good afternoon,
This post will be short today, since I’m not at my desktop right now.
I want an opinion on something, and this question for the gamers out there: Do you want me to make a post in the future where I have a list of Free Software video games that are really good for gamers depending on what genre they like to play? I could make that post this evening if so.
I had already done music and GNU/Linux operating systems, so I thought I’d help out the gamers too. Yes, Steam, WINE and Proton work quite well for Windows games (I use those too) alongside Minecraft (which is native on GNU/Linux), but I’m talking about games not well known in the mainstream gaming circles.
Weimar conditions (which the entire is in) require Weimar solutions….
Freetube still works. Also Yattee for iOS still works well.
Good afternoon,
As I did on my YouTube this morning, I'd like your opinion on something:
For the song I'll be releasing on July 17, 2024 (No, I will not be giving out its name until it's released), I want to know your opinion on if I should make it Creative Commons Attribution licensed as I have always done if you've seen my YouTube channel linked in my profile, or if I should have it proprietary, but have myself and the YouTuber I made it for be able to use it as long as that YouTuber credits me?
It looks like, right now, I might do CC-BY, but things could change.
Do NOT send me a DM.
I have nothing important to share with you.
(Except nostr:npub10qrssqjsydd38j8mv7h27dq0ynpns3djgu88mhr7cr2qcqrgyezspkxqj8 )
I have no “private” account. Please watch out for imposters.
Someone's trying to compromise you because you're too hard-hitting in what you discuss. It's hard to tell, unless you see the NIP-05 of the imposter.
Good morning,
Now that you know about Ardour, there are some other DAW's I could recommend before I get into today's main topic: those being LMMS, Qtractor, Zrythm, Rosegarden, MusE and of course, Ardour (As I had talked about a bit). These are all Free Software DAW's for any musicians looking to make the switch to GNU/Linux operating systems for your work.
TL;DR: GNU/Linux is a family of operating systems using the Linux Kernel and the GNU Core Utilities. For beginners into these systems, I would recommend Linux Mint for Windows users and Pop_OS! by System76 for Mac users. Tutorials are on the CoculesNation YouTube and Odysee channels.
Speaking of, what is GNU/Linux anyway? GNU/Linux is a structure of the Linux Kernel [https://kernel.org] and the GNU Core Utilities [https://www.gnu.org/software/coreutils/] that make up operating systems using these two tools, which are time tested to be good alternatives to Windows and MacOS.
Now, I get what you may be asking: "Neigsendoig, where in the world do you start in terms of learning GNU/Linux?"
If you take a look at my YouTube or Odysee archives for CoculesNation (though I'm still posting to those), you'll find that I had done tutorials on Linux Mint, which is a great GNU/Linux flavor (or what we call a distribution, or a distro for short) for those making the switch from Windows to Linux. For Mac users, Pop_OS! by System76 would be a good idea for you, since GNOME (pronounced 'g,noʊm̩) is very similar to the feel of HackOS's GUI (Sorry, I had to, Apple fanboys). Yes, you can install GNOME on Mint if you wanted to as well.
Mint and Pop are both Ubuntu-based distributions focused for beginners specifically, since Ubuntu, based upon Debian, focuses on stability, albeit with old versions of software. I would recommend Mint if you're a Windows user, and maybe Pop of you're a MacOS user. If you use Mint, I would not grab the ISO with MATE, since that breaks. I would use XFCE if you're on a low-spec computer, or Cinnamon if you have the resources.
I have Cinnamon installed, since that is the flagship DE Mint comes with (The Mint devs actually are behind Cinnamon). However, on top of that I have i3 installed, which is a dynamic tiling window manager. I will get into those in a future post, and give you the differences between desktop environments (DE) and window managers (WM).
More posts to come on other things. Feel free to give me ideas, questions or comments on what I am talking about if you feel so called to.
One of the great things about Nostr is that it is a global community first. It did not originate out of Silicon Valley and we’re excited that many of the Creators and Journalists in the residency and accelerator programs live on many different continents and speak a multitude of languages.
In this month’s cohort we’re excited to welcome multiple journalists and journalist related organizations as well as some exciting new creators. Check out their profiles below, follow them and don’t forget to support their work with Zaps!

A community of Free Software users who know their stuff and utilize decentralization... that's a W in my book.
Good evening,
Now that you may know what Free Software is, how about some recommendations for Free Software?
For my first recommendation, since I am a musical composer, there are several I could go for. The one I use is Ardour (https://ardour.org), which is fully featured in terms of what you can do with it. You can build the program from the source code, or pay as low as $1 USD a month, or $45-$50 USD for the binaries for Mac, Windows (Unsigned) and GNU/Linux (2009 or later, X11 required and no NixOS support).
The features (https://ardour.org/features.html) are too extensive for me to cover here, so the link provided for that should work. I'm using Ardour 7.5 from the Ubuntu Studio backport repository PPA, but I'd recommend supporting the developers through paying for the binaries.
The license for Ardour is GNU General Public License (GPL) Version 2 for those wondering. You're welcome.
Good afternoon,
For those that are unaware, the idea of Free Software is confusing to those who do not use GNU/Linux operating systems and learning privacy by starting with your threat model.
The idea of Free Software has 4 freedoms, which are as follows:
0. The ability to run software as you wish to for any purpose. To clarify this, for any ethical and lawful purpose.
1. Learning how a program works and changing it to your specific needs. The software needs to have its source code available in order to do this.
2. Sharing and distributing copies of Free Software to help others.
3. The ability to share and distribute modified versions of Free Software. By this being done, one can benefit off of someone's changes to the original software, provided that the source code is available as a precondition.
You can take a look here for further information and clarification: https://www.gnu.org/philosophy/free-sw.en.html
C# is one I wouldn't do, but it does have its uses.
Good afternoon,
Other than the hot weather I got where I’m at, it’s reasonable to assume that a lot of people might not understand Free Software (The Free Software Foundation definition, not freeware). More details tomorrow.
That is awesome. Holododger looked like a blast, despite the manipulation of this game.
I know these differences, but it seems a lot of people don't seem to understand the differences. Look at the ears and tails.
Not when you add 15 people living in Antartica that own the entire world. The world revolves around them, from what I read.
To get rid of said nonsense, you need to stop the usury (and certain people shall not stop committing it).
I had never seen this individual before. Is she undergoing some sort of ritual that the YT algorithm decided to push her by the numbers?
