This, this is what keeps me up at night. This, this is why we will improve self custody and take it out of shitcoiners hands. Enough is enough. Just finalized the transaction for the new #[2] passports. They’ll ship first thing, so we can fulfill the backorders.

This was an absolutely insane day. Felt like I was in a port control centre again. All #[1] and #[2] sold out. The website crashed. Baby needed some attention and I had to pack dozens of packages to deliver in multiple post offices in multiple towns. Now we have to wait to restock this ledger induced complete sell out.

We discussed last night with both blockstream and foundation because I saw the carnage incoming. We have new blockstream jades on their way, currently waiting for customs clearance. We have new passports on their way very soon. We will update directly when the stock has arrived again. We just updated our website so you can back-order if you prefer. Thank you for all your patience and it was fun calling and mailing with many anon plebs with newly generated email addresses. Love how everyone starts to take care more and more about there privacy! Enjoy your freedom everyone, most will arrive in your mailbox tomorrow already. The shipments to the outer perimeters of the EU are expected to take 2-5 days. No customs delays should incur, though we sometimes still receive customs checks while we’re shipping within the union.

trust a hardware wallet?

or verify?

did you verify your coldcard wallet? your blockstream jade wallet?

did you verify every single word of the opensource code of your wallet? did you understand what those words in the code mean? are you a programmer? did you know in what programming language the code is written? from where did you download the code? how did you verify that it is the same code which runs in your device?

how did you verify the hardware components in your device? how many units of hardware storage, memory and how many controllers did you find on your device. how did you verify that every single component was working properly and as intended? even if all components correspond with the image of the manufacturer, how do you know that the manufacturer did not put additional components on all devices in order to take all your coins later when they have reasonable value? how did you verify that no additional code was put into any memory or other storage device ?

did you build another device using similar components running the opensource code with the same results?

congratulations. your device seems to be verified and safe to use.

even if you are a hardware and software engineer graduated as phd from mit you will have a hard time doing all that. it will take days or even weeks to verify everything.

anyone else will have to trust the device maker.

or build his own device with opensource code (same challenge to understand the code and verify)

at the end there is always someone or something you need to trust.

i would never trust anything coming from canada.

in bitcoin i would rather not trust a us company for obvious reasons.

i would rather trust the czech company trezor and the french company ledger. they are the oldest hardware companies and never had any funds stolen out of their devices.

defamation and unfounded attacks do not change a thing

This is a very poor take. Trusting on the basis of geographical location… Did you read the new MICA regulation that’s coming into effect in Europe? Can you imagine what European signing device companies have to do? ID and monitor every transaction…

here this one:

https://community.getumbrel.com/t/closing-dead-node/7323

umbrel had farthcoin as support who is an uneducated low life, insulting everyone and blaming every customer calling them stupid and everything their own fault. farthcoin is still active with his insults on stackernews.

this year jim took over. he is a nice guy but he could not help to retrieve my sats. they even tell you that it can be lost even though you have all evidence, your sending wallet the tx id, only one transaction and you can see the bitcoin address where it is sitting but your seed from umbrel does not work. lightning is a mess and will never work for most people. i do not tolerate losing funds. it is a system which does not work.

But this issue is not a lightning problem. This is an umbrel problem. So I don’t get your point.

So everything directly works 100% with you with every new innovation? Amazing. There are clear reasons why there were failures. We just have to mitigate these, next to that I’m a poor node runner which explains a lot 😂

And what do you exactly mean with “I had one transaction on umbrel funding my own node”? The first transaction is on-chain…

In my area I’m not aware of other bitcoin accepting businesses. I visit as many bitcoin meetups as possible. Luckily I receive a lot of support from the bitcoiners in the Netherlands. We organized a meetup in two towns and announced it in the local newspapers for 9 weeks in a row. Not a single person showed up. Do you think it’s wise to ask for support from Dutch bitcoin related podcasts?

#[0] what would be your first marketing investment to sell more out of our shop at https://bitcoinbrabant.com/winkel/ we only accept bitcoin and most people don’t know how to do a payment with bitcoin yet…

What’s the % of these self zaps? 😂😂

Should I put it on 21%? #[1]

What leaves less trace? What would be your preferred way to order a signing device?

1 Someone ordering a signing device via my website using btcpayserver and where I delete all shipping and customer data after shipment. https://bitcoinbrabant.com/product/blockstream-jade-transparent-special-edition/

2 Someone ordering directly with me via Nostr dm

3 someone ordering directly with me via matrix server https://matrix.to/#/@bertdegroot:matrix.org

When Gigi creates a new piece and the word bitcoin is mentioned?

All our company emails end up in spam because the address is @bitcoinbrabant.com , can imagine this is similar for docs with bitcoin or bitcoin addresses mentioned. Where servers avoid spam / payment requests for (fake) malware attacks.

Don’t know who created this, but this is a banger for us at bitcoinbloem. 😂 ROFL 🤣
